Engineering Machine Technician – Days / Nights - Rotational Shifts

£12.52 per hour on days / £16.27 per hour for nights – Weekly Paid.


Shift Patterns:

Sunday-Wednesday 06.00 - 18.00 / Sunday-Tuesday - 18.00 - 06.00 - (38.5 hours per week)

The Role

We have a number of Engineering Machine Technician roles which we are recruiting for at our Bakkavor Wigan site. We are looking for a experienced candidates to provide a maintenance engineering service to the business units, plant and associated equipment at our Meals site in Wigan.



Accountabilities

  • Strip down mechanical equipment to carry out repairs/PPM’s and re-assemble. Changing larger parts of equipment when required.
  • Attend breakdowns to diagnose mechanical issues, carry out visual risk assessment and take the appropriate action to repair.
  • Carry out installation tasks such as moving machinery or preparing fabric for equipment.
  • Replace ‘plug and play’ electrical equipment such as sensors.
  • Carry out pre-start and planned maintenance checks on equipment (e.g. belts, pulleys and timings), escalating issues if unable to resolve.
  • Attend shift handovers to provide information of shift progress and issues occurred.
  • Carry out minor fabric maintenance tasks as per instruction from team leader.
  • Escalate issues if unable to resolve or if electrical work is required.
  • Carrying out training and educate operatives on line settings.
  • Maintain hygiene standards by ensuring that the technician’s office and tool rooms are kept clean, clear of debris and waste disposed of in accordance with procedure.

About you
  • The ability to understand and pass, as a minimum, entry level English & Numeracy & data accuracy requirements
  • Ability to understand and undertake food safety qualification
  • Right to work documentation
  • Have a flexible approach to work and hours
  • Ability to understand and adhere to health and safety requirements
  • Able to carry out duties in line with Occupational Health requirements
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene standards
  • Formal mechanical qualification
