Job Description Summary
This senior management role sits within the Engineering team in our Data Lab, which is part of the Finance Platform. You would be part of the team that’s driving the Lab forwards for change management, service management, recruitment, and strategic direction. The role would involve leading, coaching, continually challenging, motivating, mentoring, and supporting your team.

What would you get involved with?

The right person will lead and work in a cross-disciplinary team and act as advocate for technology standards & governance, providing a voice to other Engineering Leads, Software Engineers, Architects, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Project Managers within our team, identifying and supporting them in resolution of impediments and issues, as well as continually developing yourself with the group architectural, technology and business design standards needed to engineer the best solutions for the group.
Job Description
Engineering Lead – Finance Data Lab
Location: Bristol based with flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week.
Salary & Benefits: £73,616.00 - £101,222.00 GBP base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Who are the Data Lab??
Our team sits within the Finance Platform as part of the Group’s Chief Operating Office. You will be responsible for supporting a complex Data Finance landscape, including strategic change, transformation of Finance, and the existing/legacy estate.
Technology Optimisation is a key transformation programme for the Group. The delivery focuses on simplifying the technology estate, addressing the Group technology risks, the cost constraints, and supporting the increased utilisation of public/private cloud.
This work supports the Group evolve new ways of working to further digitise the business. Steps have already been taken to transform our business, modernising how we serve customers and change how we work. The programme supports this progress, continuing to simplify activity around systems and processes, progressively improving the IT architecture and delivering a better and more personalised customer experience.

Core purpose of the role -
  • Driving the technical delivery of a cloud platform, supporting the modernisation and transformation of the Bank's systems
  • Provide escalation support and in-depth technical analysis across a breadth of technologies vital to support the migration of various workloads from on-prem to Cloud in-line with strategy
  • Act as a technical stakeholder for numerous agile squads and help ensure that deliveries meet all functional and non-functional requirements
  • You’ll think innovatively and creatively to resolve challenges.
What experience do you need to apply for this role?

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about technology and its application to real-world problems. That said, because of the nature of this role it is important to that you are comfortable in a hands-on technical leadership role, blending both proven leadership and technical expertise.
As a minimum to apply you should have:
  • Experience in building cultures and environments that harbour highly performing technical teams
  • Proven experience of Software Engineering or Systems Management with experience in leading change and managing service across complex operational and technology landscapes
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Windows Platforms, Oracle Platforms, Visualisation Tools and Google Cloud Platform
  • Understanding of IT security, data security, and compliance standards in the Financial Services industry.
  • Experience in Stakeholder management and reporting.
  • Robust understanding of Agile practices.
  • Be passionate about standard automation and engineering methodologies and building the and strong data driven culture.
