Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Inspector

We are recruiting for an Engineering Inspector Mechanical based within the Hot Mill at our Port Talbot site.
The Role
Reporting to the Plant Engineer, the purpose of the role is to take responsibility for a designated area of plant. Ensuring all aspects of planned and breakdown maintenance are undertaken to a high standard while working closely with the relevant Plant Engineer.
To carry out this role successfully, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Ensure all inspections for a designated area of the plant are carried out and fed back on SAP as per schedule whilst maintaining an intimate knowledge of the plant condition and performance through these inspections, measurements and daily interaction with Team Members operating the plant.
- Provide the first level of engineering expertise and maintain equipment capability for a discrete area.
- Identify problems in a designated area of the plant, scope up repairs, take through planning process to execution level ensuring all work is executed in a safe manner.
- To repair immediately, or as soon as practical, all defects found or reported via SAP or shift reporting process either personally, with the assistance of other Engineering Inspectors or through direct instruction of others. Arranging resource and ensuring that these are completed within an appropriate time.
- To assist in improving and develop cost effective maintenance schedules, maintenance strategies, engineering standards and procedures.
- Be responsible for the working on and issuing of Fluid Power permits for all areas covered by the area of responsibility and to train others in the systems to a level where they can become authorised on the relevant systems.
The Candidate
We are seeking candidates who are educated preferably to minimum of HNC level or equivalent in a mechanical engineering discipline. The successful applicant will ideally have good knowledge and experience of the industry, but it is not essential. Experience of Fluid Power Systems is preferable.
Having experience of working in a COMAH site and understanding of DSEAR regulations would be preferred.
