Job description
The Associate Engineer will provide conceptual design deliverables to support commercial solar electric system project development. He/she will execute engineering and technical tasks of assigned projects primarily regarding early-stage site evaluation, conceptual design development and sensitivity analysis of design variables for optimization. The Associate Engineer will identify the most appropriate technical and material solutions for each prospect as well as perform preliminary design calculations for project scoping and feasibility analysis. Deliverables include equipment specifications, conceptual design drawings, site evaluation reports, completed interconnection forms, energy production estimates, and single line electrical diagrams. The Associate Engineer will also support Project Engineers in system design efforts for contracted projects. Additionally, the Associate Engineer will be asked on occasion to support special projects related to research, data entry and analysis, and updating policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conceptual design of early-stage projects to support business development.
- Performs due diligence and critical issues analysis of projects.
- Performs routine or entry-level engineering tasks.
- Contributes to the development of engineering plans and designs.
- Prepares engineering calculations, estimates, statistics, and minor designs.
- Analyzes quotes and bids to other engineers.
- Reviews equipment and materials test reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor?s degree in Engineering required.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of engineering software and systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software to maintain accurate records.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 with bonus potential
