THE ROLE
Job Purpose:
As we enter a period of growth within the company we are looking for an
Engineering Manager to take on a very important role within the team. This person will be hands on initially but will start to grow a team to look after all our Mechanical & Technical Hire Assets (Generators / Towers / Trailers /
Electrical Distribution) & the day to day maintenance of our internal fleet of plant & vehicles.
As part of the role you will keep our systems updated while designing new and more efficient ways to keep our equipment in the best possible position.
Key Accountabilities & Roles:
You will manage the day to day operations of the Engineering function of the company including all areas (Plant, Mechanical Hire Assets, Fleet
Vehicles) including their inevitable expansion this year and beyond.
Develop and build a team to ensure a very clear hierarchy & accountability line, creating ownership in all areas along with strong reporting functions.
Build, Implement & police strong processes to ensure 100% accuracy across the board in regards to all engineering functions moving forward.
Build, Implement & police task management systems (SM8) to ensure the most effective efficiencies across the department in both time and money.
Develop & Roll out the SPOC Initiative alongside the training and development Manager.
Manage & Control RMS ensuring accuracy and correct usage at all times.
Use RMS to maintain 100% accurate maintenance records of all hire equipment within your remit.
Be at the forefront of Quality Control, continually developing alongside your team new more efficient ways of working to ensure our service delivery is always perfect.
Target and actively manage your team along with business requirements.
Ensure coverage of shifts for the business needs.
Manage and help define our Engineering team as we grow & invest heavily into this department over the next 12 months ensuring our equipment is always perfect & looked after beyond industry standards to ensure we are always first choice for our customers.
Manage staffing to an agreed budget depending on amount of work undertaken. Complete reports for finance in regards to these budget spends.
Manage both Appraisals & and bonus programs within your team.
Generate budgets & reports to quantify the multimillion pound annual spend in all areas of the department and forecast as to what will be required as we expand. Be ready to justify spending and it's requirement.
Take a lead on energy usage along with sustainability across the department.
You will identify and set quantifiable targets and goals within your team in regards to this. You will totally understand energy usage and the massive rising costs it is and will have on our business.
Build and maintain excellent cross department relationships.
Work closely with Ops, Warehouse, Hire & Planning to ensure the common goal of super happy customers.
Be instrumental & take a lead in the roll of our Asset Management Systems as they evolve..
Build a close relationship with our Training & Development team while identifying areas of the department for them to structure learning around.
Manage the day to day security of the depot site and our assets, implementing processes and systems where appropriate to property and equipment.
Work with the Head of Assets & Facilities in regards more efficient storage, transport and processing methods.
Identify, research & Implement Processes & Systems to benefit the company.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
A working knowledge of Generators, Vehicle Mechanics & Trailers
A superb grasp of IT Systems and a very high level of computer literacy.
Astounding attention to detail & Observational Skills.
Methodical approach to work with efficiency at the forefront.
Experience in a fast moving environment and ability to think quickly on the go, making informed changes quickly in line with moving situations.
Ability to communicate effectively and with credibility at all levels.
Ability to make hard decisions and act on them swiftly.
Team management & Direction.
Able to organise workload in a consistent and methodical way ensuring efficiency and ability to quantifiably report on it.
Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship building and a strong communicator.
Ability to plan, prioritise, work to deadlines, without supervision and on their own initiative.
High levels of drive and enthusiasm.
Meticulous in their approach.
Dynamic and proactive.
Other Details:
Shift : To work when required by the role completing weekly hours.
Based : Warrington Depot - 29 Kingsland Grange
