Job title: Principal Engineer – Requirements & Acceptance
Location: Filton/Portsmouth/Glasgow - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £43,700-£55,000 depending on skills & experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead on the management and maintenance of requirements using requirements development
- Ensure requirements have traceable Assurance / Acceptance characteristics
- Support SME Engineers in the derivation of requirements and acceptance events for internal use and supplier contract engagement
- Act as a point of contact with SME Engineers to resolve problems and issues and to maintain awareness of priorities and objectives
- Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development
- Identify areas of improvement in relevant processes and own learning in order to support business improvement and transformation initiatives
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience in Systems Engineering methodologies
- Excellent understanding of requirements development and management practices
- Ability to organise own work and priorities, communicate formally and informally at all levels and adapt to changing demands of bids and opportunities
- Ability to work efficiently in hybrid arrangement, with the need to travel to co-locate with bid team as need arises
Desirable:
- Good understanding of the engineering lifecycle
- Experience in early stages of product design
- Experience in the use of DOORs to configure the management of Requirements & acceptance across multiple products
- Experience of working in the Defence environment and related industries

The Principle Engineering (Requirements and Acceptance) team:
As part of this role you will be responsible for assisting in the development and management of project requirements and assist the Subject Matter Experts to develop evidence to demonstrate to the customer that the requirement have been met. You will also work with key stakeholders to ensure the provision of engineering expertise.
