Job Purpose

We are looking for someone to join our high performing ViiV & UKI Procurement team to take on the role of Procurement Manager for ViiV. In the team, we are the ‘face’ of procurement to the UK & Ireland Pharma business and global ViiV – our exciting fast paced and agile specialist HIV business.

This role represents a great opportunity for you to build strong relationships with a variety of diverse stakeholders across the ViiV business. You will use these relationships to understand objectives, priorities, business strategy and work, along with the ViiV head of procurement, to advise how procurement can help achieve these goals. This may include ambitious cost savings, driving value including top line growth and managing risk and/or ensuring that the right suppliers are being chosen. All supporting the overall ViiV strategy. There will also be a stretch opportunity within this role to support key initiatives for business units within our Pharma commercial business (e.g. Oncology, Specialty, Vaccines, General Medicines) in the UK and potentially additional European countries should the opportunity arise.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy execution

  • Align with Global category teams and work in collaboration with these teams to provide ViiV business requirements through preferred supplier

  • Execute global sourcing strategies for multiple spend categories in scope of responsibility, operating with a truly global mindset and ensuring all applicable ViiV needs are accommodated

  • Be the local expert in agreed spend categories and ViiV BU’s within scope of responsibility

Benefit delivery

  • Ensure financial benefits are managed in accordance with the Savings methodology approach, ensuring business unit and Finance agreement to financial value delivered and transparency on treatment of benefits in the budgeting process

  • Create and deliver effective budgets Annual plans agreed with key stakeholders and Finance in accordance with the Savings methodology

  • Negotiate goods and services contracts with suppliers that secure favourable terms for ViiV in line with the agreed business requirements

Business partnering & stakeholder management in GSK

  • Build strategic relationships with ViiV stakeholders, to understand business requirements, identify opportunities to create value and to position Procurement’s value proposition. Align sourcing strategies accordingly

  • Influence key stakeholders and business partners to support strategy development, endorse recommended strategies, support execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted

External supplier relationships

  • Execute and manage effective contracts with suppliers that will allow ViiV to maximize opportunity globally. Ensure global views on supplier negotiations are taken

  • Identification/evaluation of new vendors in line with agreed business requirements, as well as tracking and monitoring of service level agreements and performance standards for existing vendors

Supply chain & risk management

  • Contribute to the transformation of the supply chain to release value and make ViiV more responsive to business and customer needs – for example in cost control, complexity reduction, simplification, best practice procurement and use of KPIs

  • Identify and manage risks in the supply chain. Ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place and in use and that the risks are communicated appropriately within business units impacted, Procurement and the supply base

Basic Qualifications

  • Procurement experience including the ability to support multiple spend categories

  • Track record of business stakeholder management and influencing, this includes the ability to build strong relationships and to influence without express authority

  • Experience managing suppliers (including performance management), developing new potential suppliers and partnering with supply base for mutual benefit

  • Able to drive and deliver business impacting cost savings

  • Ability to articulate the value that procurement can bring to an organisation

  • Ability and track record in leading end to end contract negotiations

  • Commercial and financial acumen

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Pharmaceutical Industry Experience

  • Qualified to bachelor’s degree level

  • Category experience within Marketing, Sales and/or Commercial areas

  • Experience working with Procure-to-Pay and Spend Analysis systems; ability to dive into data and co-create, understand, and trouble-shoot reporting requirements

  • Experience managing the delivery of large sourcing projects in collaboration with cross functional teams
