Essential Functions
- Create engineering designs, layouts and drawings for aircraft modifications and/or repairs
- Work well with other designers/draftsman to complete engineering drawing packages
- Complete designs using Catia design software
- Hand sketch design configurations to articulate concepts
- Interpret engineering drawings and work closely with other departments to resolve issues
- Conduct liaison engineering when required
- Interface with stress analysts and shop floor mechanics
- Reports to Manager, Structures Engineering and/or Director, Engineering/Chief Engineer (or as otherwise as determined)
Qualifications
- BS Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years (10,000 hours) experience with Catia VR5 design of aerospace/aircraft structural modifications or new design
- Experience with typical aircraft metals (MMPDS), hardware (MS, NAS, AN, bolts, rivets, screws, nuts, bushings, etc.), steels, fiberglass, honeycomb panels, machined parts, formed sheet metal, welds, and sealant
- The applicant must have good communication skills, be fluent in English (spoken and written) and proficient in MS Word and Excel for report writing and analysis preparation
- Good MS Windows, MS Office, PowerPoint, computer skills and organization

The Design Engineer performs functions, or is immediately available to perform functions that are considered safety sensitive for the purpose of maintenance or preventive maintenance as defined by 14 CFR 121.
