The Opportunity
Life Sciences is a rapidly growing sector at EYP. Within this area, we are building significant Life Sciences Commercial capability, with an ambition to become the leading Life Sciences Strategy practice.
Within the LS team, we are hiring Engagement Managers to lead on strategy across a range of Biopharmaceutical clients.
Joining this area as an Engagement Manager gives the right candidate the opportunity to accelerate their career in Life Sciences, lead innovation in the pharmaceutical sector and generate ideas leading to significant changes into health systems currently facing major affordability and health care delivery challenges. The nature of the role demands a hybrid skill set that combines commercial strategy, qualitative and quantitative rigour to problem solving, with strong creative intuition and a growth can-do mindset.
The Work
Our current work is typically focused on applying our deep sector & strategy knowledge to various types of strategic projects, including:
- Commercial due diligence
- Strategy development and assessment
- Market entry strategy and opportunity sizing
- Product and business unit strategy development
- Divestment options analysis
- Disease area strategy
- Medical affairs strategy
- Business development and licencing
You'll work with a high-performing, integrated team which focuses on a variety of global and local corporate clients and private equity clients. You'll have a diverse range of stretching experiences which will give you continuous learning and development opportunities as well as a great sense of achievement.
You Key Responsibilities
As an Engagement Manager, you’ll typically be responsible for leading our largest client projects, shaping the deliverables, client relationships, and wider team, with the support and coaching of our directors and partners.
You’ll also be involved in developing proposals and bids, and actively contribute to EY-Parthenon thought leadership and internal operational initiatives.
This will include:
- Managing project teams of between 3-6 consultants
- Creating an inclusive culture throughout the team and within engagements
- Developing our business – identifying opportunities within existing clients and driving sales activity
- Working closely with wider EY teams – across Business Consulting, Tax, Strategy & Transactions and Assurance to bring the best of the firm to our clients
- Developing a community within the team – owning / developing an offer, or other internal practice build initiatives such as Training, Professional Development, Innovation, Recruitment, etc.
- Counselling of Consultants to provide career direction and advice
Skills and attributes for success

We are looking for exciting candidates to join our team with the required characteristics.
- Experience gained in a combination of a traditional management consulting environment and/or a Global Pharmaceutical and Med Tech organisation
- High level of comfort in a consulting role and experience with a client-facing position in an agency/consulting environment, including leading client workshops and developing and delivering strategic recommendations
- Experience working in global multidisciplinary teams and across regions/countries.
- Experience in a thought leadership role, demonstrated through writing (blog, white paper, etc.) and/or speaking engagements
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Preferably hold an MBA or Master in Health Economics, Health Policy and/or Pharmaceutical Sciences (preferred but not mandatory)
- Ability to write to a high standard, fluent/native in English with additional major languages desired
