Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the implementation of strategic internal communications, and employee engagement plans to engage employees, empower leaders and build a culture of information sharing, transparency and two-way dialogue.
In this role, you will develop, implement and maintain communications and support the enhancements and introduction of communication channels.
Essential Skills and Functions
- Work with peers and cross-functional teams to support the development of timely and relevant internal communications, including intranet content, graphics, video, and photography that inform and engage employees and support our culture.
- Meet regularly with communications colleagues to stay abreast of new business, contribute to strategic planning, and provide relevant updates.
- Interview internal subject matter experts, take pictures, and draft news story.
- Occasionally, travel to our shipyards in Sturgeon Bay, Marinette, and Green Bay, to cover internal and external events and support content development for employee engagement efforts.
- Support focus groups, employee engagement meetings, and events.
- Identify and create digital and traditional print employee communications, including intranet content (news), emails, videos, newsletters, table drops, posters, and more.
- Design graphic content for employee digital display system.
- Coordinate photography and videography with multimedia partners to assist in content development for internal communications, marketing materials, social media posts, and employee recruiting/HR materials.
- Assist with developing executive communications to ensure one consistent voice for Fincantieri Marine Group.
- Support the publication of communications via all internal channels.
- Support the planning, communication, and implementation of the annual Employee Engagement Survey.
- Provide support on other communications and employee engagement projects as needed.
- Must be detail-oriented and have superior organizational skills.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to frequently changing information and event scope.
- Must show creativity, initiative, and good judgment.
- Assertive and participate as part of a team and open to new ideas.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights or weekends, according to business demands.
- Travel may be required.
- Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
- Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
- Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
- All employees are required to adhere to ISO and OHSAS policies established by FMG and shall have high values for safety awareness

Education and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Business, Marketing or related field of study preferred; or any equivalent combination of skills and experience
- Two years of experience in communications, marketing, or employee relations in a corporate or business environment
- One year of experience in a defense contracting or industrial/manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with Adobe Photoshop® or Creative Suite, In Design®, Microsoft PowerPoint/Excel, etc., experience with any variety of digital content management systems, social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, HootSuite, etc.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands to handle materials or equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, areas of the work environment may not be climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.
