Energy Technician (FT, PT, Jobshare)

Right now, we now have an exciting opportunity at our CHP plant in Kemsley. This flexible two-shifting plant has the capacity to generate up to 74MW of electricity and 200MW of heat. You’ll be part of the onsite team that ensures the smooth running of its day-to-day operation.
This is a busy role that will see you performing a wide range of tasks. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation of the plant, meeting customers' requirements in accordance with contractual, environmental and operational needs.
It’s a challenge that requires real flexibility as well as technical skills. Equally important, you’ll also need to take pride in your work and be passionate about best practice.
Key responsibilities include
- Delivering availability and reliability through investigations of fault conditions and incidents to achieve and exceed business KPI’s.
- Actively promoting a culture of health, safety and environmental awareness.
- Implementing effective work control through communication with the site maintenance team including implementation of the safety rules on a daily basis.
- Prioritising workload and resource, maximising the utilisation of the resources at all times.
- Providing first line maintenance and fault diagnosis, escalating to the maintenance team when required.
- Proactively supporting the maintenance team during technical projects and planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Contributing to developing the site Health & Safety plan and taking responsibility for implementing site objectives.
- Liaising with the client to ensure the site’s contractual obligations are maintained and a good working relationship is promoted.
- Supporting and working closely with other members of the Production and Maintenance teams, ensuring effective communication at all times.
What we need from you
- Achieved, or working towards, NVQ level 3 in Power Plant Operations, or equivalent qualification.
- Capability of enacting all defined roles within the Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) Safety Rules, achieving all nominations required within agreed timescales.
- Substantial relevant practical engineering and maintenance experience (Process, Electrical, C&I, Mechanical) within a similar role and/or process industry.
- Clear knowledge and understanding of safety and environmental management including operational polices, standards, frameworks and statutory legislation.
- IOSH (Managing Safely), or equivalent qualification, demonstrating a clear knowledge of safety practices and management.
- A working knowledge of key PC based computer systems
