Embedded Software Engineer

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for the embedded software aspects of architecting, developing, and documenting Kinesys control products.
How you'll do it
- You'll be responsible for the architecture of code, and work with the electronics engineers to determine the hardware architecture
- You'll be responsible for the creation of new code, and maintenance of old code to execute on RTOS
- You'll deliver top quality software, using coding standards and appropriate methods (Code Review, Static Analysis, Unit Test etc.)
- You'll Fully test any code created to ensure full compatibility with the chosen hardware prior to release
- You'll utilise a combination of simulation and hardware testing to ensure fault free release of software
- You'll accurately document designs for inclusion in our technical files to support CE marking, or other regulatory requirements
- You'll take the lead with embedded software changes, obsolescence management, and updates for legacy products
- You'll help create and maintain manufacturing information, test specifications and production build packages
- You'll fault find test failures to support production as needed
- You'll make sure we do things right by developing and executing test plans, as well as documenting our software products

Your experience and knowledge
- You have experience of writing RTOS firmware with the following interfaces UART, SPI, I2C, TCP IP, Modbus (Serial and TCP)
- You're highly proficient in Software testing methodologies
- You've worked with Operating Systems such as uTasker (at the heart of many of our products) or you bring relevant RTOS experience (e.g. FreeRTOS, VxWorks, Green Hills, QNX)
- You've got proven hands-on 'real time' experience with embedded microcontrollers (e.g. ARM) using toolchains such as Rowley Crossworks, Keil uVision etc.
- You're comfortable 'hands-on' with hardware (JTAG, logic analysers, 'scopes) and familiar with data comms (RS232, RS485, I2C, SPI, Ethernet IP)
- You might have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electronics Alternatively, you may have gained your expertise through a less conventional path - practical experience, learning from your mistakes, or maybe a misspent youth.
