Slough

£51,800 - £57,800 (base salary and shift allowance) + 8% bonus

Shift Pattern: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off (7am-7pm / 7pm – 7am)

An exciting opportunity to join the Mars Wrigley factory in Slough as an Electrical Technician has become available. The primary responsibility of the role is to maintain plant equipment and fix electrical/mechanical issues sitewide. For this role a strong electrical bias with control/automation skill will be required, along with an intermediate level of mechanical expertise. This role supports the factory 24/7 by working a 4 on 4 off (continental) shift pattern consisting of; 2x 12 hour days and then 2x 12 hour nights.

What are we looking for?

  • Electrical served Technical Apprenticeship is required as a minimum, supported by industry experience
  • Significant experience as a Technician/Engineer in either Electrical and Controls skills (minimum of 5 years industry experience)
  • Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/HND) in an Electrical/Automation or Multiskilled Engineering discipline is desirable, supported by industry experience
  • Proven experience in diagnosing and fixing Automation, Electrical and Mechanical issues, with an Electrical bias, within an FMCG environment
  • Experienced in basic and complex problem solving to efficient resolution
  • An action orientated, results driven, problem solver that works well with people and can prioritise workloads with ease
  • 18th Edition BS 7671 preferred but not essential
  • Skilled in understanding drawings/electrical diagrams/schematics/P&ID via CAD/CAM software
  • Knowledge of MS office software, CCMS systems and electronic drawing software i.e: Meridian

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • As an Electrical Technician you will be performing fault diagnosis and resolving random failures on production machinery. Such as; automation, electrical and mechanical issues
  • Escalate major maintenance issues where necessary and resolved where possible
  • Detailed reporting and recording of maintenance work through the use of SAP
  • Provide technical experience/expertise/information to assist others in resolution of equipment issues and/or breakdowns with Safety and Quality in mind
  • Drive reactive maintenance continuous improvement
  • Undertake preventative maintenance activities, equipment checks, repairs, filler jobs etc.
  • Conduct coaching and training of all operators, technicians and apprentices
  • Complete risk assessment/permit to work and formulate method statements to assist in safe undertaking of any activity
  • Identify, design, and implement controls improvement solutions
  • Work with engineering on specific electrical and or controls projects from design to startup, including HMI/PLC programming/fault diagnostics (predominately AB), installation, checkout, start-up, and training
  • Provide on shift – plant-wide support for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolution to all active process breakdowns.
