Black &Veatch Construction has a Waste-to-Energy project in the Northwich UK area. We are seeking an Electrical/Control Field Engineer - Waste-to-Energy - UK who will be responsible for providing subcontractors with information and direction, as outlined within contract specifications, to allow the work to proceed as scheduled. They will have authority to interpret technical requirements and provide solutions in conjunction with discipline Project Department Engineer and Discipline Superintendent, to provide drawings and data, and to direct work as assigned and consistent with Company's contractual commitments; may perform subcontract administration of discipline specific or assigned procurements; and will Interpret and administer fundamental commercial issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides technical direction/interpretation of design drawings and specification requirements, as well as general guidance to subcontractors on overall design .
- May perform fundamental design checks and re-design in the field without supervision .
- Provides commercial direction, interpretation of subcontracts, and administers discipline specific or assigned contract requirements in coordination with Field .
- Reviews, maintains records, and responds to Contractor Information Requests (CIRs) as assigned .
- Monitors assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with subcontract technical requirements .
- Monitors discipline construction activities for compliance with the CPM schedule .
- Prepares and issues all discipline extra work authorization requests (RFMPs/WAs) with the approval of the Site Manager
- Coordinates with Field Subcontract Administrator as needed .
- Maintains a daily log for site record purposes .
- Completes quantity take-offs as required to support construction planning and invoice approval .
- Reviews all subcontractor progress payment requests for acceptance .
- Monitors technical service representative (supplier) daily logs and reviews/approves their timesheets .
- Compiles and maintains Conformed to Construction Records drawing and list markups as assigned .
- Directs site document control activities for design documents .
- Assists Field Quality Assurance Manager in performing inspections and verification of tests .
- Adheres to safety and quality standards as appropriate for level of duties and accountabilities .
- Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements .
- Provides commercial direction, interpretation of subcontracts, and administers discipline specific or assigned contract requirements in coordination with Field Subcontract Administrator or Procurement Manager .
- Reviews, maintains records, and responds to Contractor Information Requests (CIRs) as assigned .

Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program accepted as valid in the home country or the country in which the individual is practicing.
All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 to 6 years construction management and/or design experience in similar facility construction
- Preferred Skills: . Knowledge of cost control, scheduling, engineering drawings and other documents . Ability to do material takeoffs, field estimates . Communication skills . Organizational skills . Safety regulations . Discipline engineering experience . Supervisory skills . Contract administration
Certifications
- Chartered Engineer designation preferred
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
- See and hear naturally or with correction.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
- Requires repetitive movement.
- May require work above 5 feet in height.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
- Typical construction site environment:
- Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
- Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
- Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions
- Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
- Work around hazardous equipment.
