Overview
Over a 4-year period, we will be providing bespoke training for our Electricians of the future along with on-the-job mentoring and learning. When not being fully supported on a site/office you will attend a local college or apprenticeship provider.
What you’ll be studying
You will study towards a Level 2 or 3 Installation Electrician and Maintenance apprenticeship with your qualification achieved through a combination of college work and gathering work-based experience and evidence.
Academic Requirements
- Minimum of 2 GSCE Grades A*- C (4-9) in Maths & English.

- You will allocate and supervise technical and other tasks
- You will have good oral and written communication skills to aid you to convey technical and other information

- Industry based starting rate of pay of £6.42 per hour (whilst at work) and £5.65 per hour (whilst at college), progressing each year in line with Joint Industry Board for the Electrical Contracting Industry (JIB) apprentice rates

Role Summary
Working alongside our trained professionals you will install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial and commercial buildings. Electrical equipment and systems may include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment as well as crime and fire alarm systems and renewable energy technologies.
What you’ll be doing:
- Understand and apply the principles of planning and selection for the installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems in buildings, structures and the environment.
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems.
- Understand and apply the practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.
- Understand and apply the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
- Oversee and organise the work environment.
- Understand and apply health and safety and environmental regulations, guidance notes and relevant codes of practice; and the requirements of the current edition of the Wiring Regulations.
