We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering Apprentice Technician, to join our team based at our Edmonton, North London Head Office.
LondonEnergy Ltd operates the second largest waste management companies in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London’s waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across North London making a difference to the environment and the local community from the work we do. By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough energy from waste to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centre's.
You will train as an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering Apprentice Technician, to undertake a structured training program of academic study and workshop activities in order to gain the required skills and knowledge to support the Engineering Maintenance Department.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertake Apprenticeship training and any other additional learning courses in order to gain knowledge and facilitate learning and development achieving the academic grades and practical skills in order to entitle yearly progression leading to the award of a suitable NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Electrical or Instrument Engineering.
- Observing, learning & understanding of engineering & maintenance tasks whilst working alongside an E&I Technician, within the Engineering Department.
- Fault finding, Repair/Rectification, maintenance and installation of Safety Equipment, Lighting and Small Power, AC Motor & Inverter Drive Units, Uninterruptable Power Supplies and Batteries, Overhead Gantry Cranes, Boilers, Turbines and associated Instrumentation including Control Valves, and all other associated equipment in order to achieve the required standard of an “Improver” Electrical Technician.
- To train in the use of hand tools and Electrical & Instrument test equipment to gain the knowledge to carry out repairs and maintenance of all Electrical & Instrument plant, primarily at LondonEnergy Ltd’s EcoPark Energy Centre, with the potential to attend satellite sites as and when required.
- Learning and understanding the importance of Health and safety within the workplace.
- Learn how to maintain workshop equipment and to keep it in good working order.
- Maintain a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects that have been undertaken and the skills learned.
- Maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace and EcoPark site.
- To perform any other duties appropriate to the role of the post holder.
Requirements
- Good Communication Skills – Both Verbal & Written
- An aptitude for Engineering, hands on approach.
- Team working skills.
- Willing to take responsibility for tasks and training progression.
- Able to give and receive training.
- Flexible approach to direction.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- GCSE Mathematics, English, Science (C or above) OR A Level, NVQ Level’s 1 or 2 in Mathematics
- Good time keeping and attendance record.
- Willingness & Enthusiastic approach to completing a 4year Technical Apprenticeship.
- Physical fitness and good health.
You must be available to attend our Open Day on Thursday 20th April.
