A full-time, permanent post is available to commence in May 2023 and is part of the University’s Wellbeing and Welfare Team, operationally based within the Doctoral College PGR student support team. You will be expected to work across both Exeter campuses as well as travel occasionally to our Penryn campus in Cornwall.


Summary of the role

The Education Welfare Advisor will be managed by the Pathway Lead, Education Welfare but will be expected to work closely with the PGR Support team to develop an understanding of PGR wellbeing and welfare needs. The Doctoral College provides support for all postgraduate research students and delivery of University of Exeter postgraduate research programmes.


This position offers an exciting opportunity for those wishing to develop their career in Education Welfare Support, with an interest in supporting students with additional and sometimes complex needs. We are looking for compassionate, committed and resilient individuals with an understanding of the issues facing PGR students and who have the required experience and skills to join this busy team.


You will provide a high level of wellbeing support and advice through the Health, Wellbeing and Support for Study process, as well as guidance relating to our research programmes of study. You will maintain an extensive knowledge of internal and external wellbeing support services and how they relate to PGR students in order to signpost students effectively.


The successful applicants for this post will have experience of working flexibly both as part of a team and by working independently to deliver an outstanding customer service experience. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as experience of coordinating support for individuals with health and wellbeing needs.
