Location: Cardiff (hybrid working available, 60/40 split)
Permanent, full time
Salary: £27,000 - £37,000

Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Business Change function as a Business Analyst, working as part of the wider team responsible for supporting the delivery of business change and transformation activity within NewLaw Solicitors
Acting as a bridge between IT and the business, you will engage with all levels of the organisation in order to draw out an accurate, understandable, and presentable picture of current business processes and practice.
Working with your line manager you will be responsible for ensuring successful change is delivered into the business.
You will identify future change needs in respect of allocated changes, assess their impact, capturing, analysing, and documenting technical and operational requirements whilst creating effective solutions to help meet those needs. In addition, you will support the solution design and delivery, assuring quality testing, training and education, and ensure change management is executed as part of timely implementation.
A day in the life of the Business Analyst at NewLaw will involve:
- Change Management – primarily, your role will involve managing the change management process through the business to drive process improvement. This will be done by building relationships internally with senior management, line managers and externally with key suppliers / providers.
- Business Analysis - analyze the company’s needs by identifying and maximising opportunities to use information and technology to modify and improve business processes.
- Programme & Project Management – you’ll undertake minor project management duties on an ad hoc basis and lead a number of small projects for the operational unit and the organisation.
- Quality Assurance and Testing – as part of a small team you will work closely with the IT team to ensure relevant testing takes place on any work package allocated. You will also take responsibility for coordination of operational personnel to test, evaluate and validate new processes, functions and applications.
- Training – working with colleagues within the L&D function, you will ensure that, where applicable, training is delivered to ensure that the change is fully understood and embedded.
To be a successful Business Analyst within NewLaw, you’ll need the below skills:
- Commercial Awareness – your role will play a pivotal role in assessing risk, identifying opportunities and raising the profile of the business.
- Project Management and Business Analysis – You will have good analytical skills to be able to solve daily work issues by using proven business analysis techniques. You will have experience of project delivery as well as change management planning and delivery.
- Communication – you’ll be a strong communicator, building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll be confident identifying and articulating key messages clearly and succinctly.
- IT – you will have a broad knowledge of ICT and opportunities to use technology to improve the business as well as ability to use lean skills to identify areas for business improvement.
- 3+ years’ experience in a Business Analyst role within IT, working with systems and software development.
- Core proven analyst skills in requirements gathering, process mapping, data analysis, and understanding of formal methods, e.g., UML, MOSCOW, Swim Lane
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skill
- Ability to negotiate and prioritise
- Experience and skills in software testing and test script production
- Basic Project Management skills and experience
