Job description

The Education Officer will ensure effective co-ordination and delivery of the education offer at Lilidorei. They will have oversight of the development of learning resources for both Key stage 1 and 2 that will be offered to primary schools in Northumberland as part of the Free Friday initiative.


Roles and responsibilities

Main duties will include:

Leading on the " Free Fridays" education offer at Lilidorei and working collaboratively with the Head of Play to ensure education is an integral component to Lilidorei's mission.

Promotion of "Free Fridays" and other educational activities that are on offer to schools, special schools and alternative education providers.

Working with The Alnwick Garden sales and bookings team to ensure effective co-ordination of school visits to Lilidorei.

Ensure schools receive pre visit information and education resource packs relating to the education offer at Lilidorei.

Reviewing educational resources to influence the development of new learning opportunities and related outcomes in both Lilidorei and The Alnwick Garden.

Evaluating the education provision to ensure there is cross curriculuar learning and to demonstrate funding requirements are met.

Implement educational activities according to a designated budget.

Oversee coaching and on-going support of learning facilitators (secret keepers) in order to improve instructional practices in literacy, numeracy and social and emotional skills.

Work towards obtaining the LOtC Quality Badge for both The Alnwick Garden and Lilidorei education programmes.

Act as a role model for The Alnwick Garden culture and values.

Carry out any other duties as requested by the strategic head of community and education or other senior member of the organisation.


Personal Specifcation

The successful applicant will have:


Experience of working in an educational setting (will be advantageous).


Experience of evaluating and measuring the effectiveness of educational programmes.

Insight into the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 and 2.

The commitment and drive to reduce inequalities.


Ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences and stakeholders.

Possess a positive and proactive attitude to work, demonstrating a solution focused approach.


Ability to work unsupervised, organising workload to meet different operational priorities across departments.

Excellent IT skills

Ability to work in a values driven organisation
