Job description

NFER is growing its international portfolio and are looking for in-country Associates based within Sub-Saharan Africa to join its team.

For more than 70 years we have been a trusted resource for education evidence and insight, grounding our opinions and recommendation in evidence meaning we are proud of being an independent organisation.

Our multi-disciplinary expertise supports the delivery of complex projects with special technical expertise in qualitative research, instruments design & testing, and randomised control trials.

Our experts are committed to answering key questions about education than can support reforms to education systems in Sub Saharan Africa, specifically; Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda. Focusing on key themes such as; teaching and learning, equity and inclusion, learning assessment, school and system improvement, distance education, ICT / Education technology, and/or curriculum development and evaluation.

As an Associate you’ll play a role in partnership building and proactive business development activities within Sub Saharan Africa, keeping us up to date on education sector activities at a policy and programmatic level. You’ll help us build networks of connections in country and facilitate meetings and follow up and help identify and recommend delivery partners and may also contribute to technical proposals.

We are looking for a mix of expertise including familiarity with in-country context within Sub-Saharan Africa, knowledge and experience of working with large international organisations/ donors, as well as methodological and/or thematic expertise such as; Qualitative Research, Quantitative Research, Mixed Methods, Randomised control trials, Reviews and evidence scoping, Instrument design and testing, Developing learning assessments, Research into the use of assessments. You must have a Master's degree or above in a relevant field of study.
