New Forest Wildlife Park
An Education and Events Guide will be required to play a key role in helping to deliver the Zoo’s education program to visiting schools, clubs and the general public. They will also be responsible for assisting with the organising and delivery of children’s birthday parties and both seasonal and themed events throughout the year.
This is an ideal role for someone who is passionate about educating and engaging visitors in the importance of zoo education and native species conservation. The role would also be suitable for someone studying on an animal related qualification, wanting to begin their career within the zoological industry.
This vacancy is a casual, part time role. Hours would be offered to you as and when school and birthday party bookings were made. Weekend work would be required.
- Parties are mainly on weekends, 1-2 per day.
- The hours vary: 9-5pm, 9-1pm or 1-5pm.
- School tours are on weekdays
- Tour hours can vary but you would be notified in advance
Working days are relatively flexible, so whether you would like to work most weekends, one Saturday a month or an occasional Sunday all applications are welcome. We build a pool of guides to call upon.
Person specification
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- To be confident at delivering talks.
- To be capable of running educational craft activities.
- Interested in and passionate about educating visitors on the natural world
- Experience of working with children.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Available to work weekends and Bank holidays
- Able to work in an outdoor environment and in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- To be highly organised.
