Job description
This is hourly paid work assisting teachers with curriculum planning, supervision of students, and teaching youth in the classroom setting; assists in presenting and reinforcing learning concepts. This position is part-time and requires less than 30 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.
NOTE: This is a 29 hour per week position.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Provides support the teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment
- Assist teachers in planning and preparation for daily activities, aids instructional efforts of the teacher
- Assists the teacher in preparing lesion outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas
- Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts.
- Presents subject matter to students, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role playing
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
- Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing, typing, coping and filing instructional materials
- Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials
- Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved procedures
- Participate in professional growth activities
- Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the school district
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess two or more of the following:
- Experience working with at-risk youth in an educational environment.
- Associate`s degree.
- Experience as a teacher's aide and or office clerk
- Paraprofessional Certification with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
(GAPSC) or Two-Year Degree.
