Internal Sales Executive - Independents

Responsible for researching and prospecting potential new independent accounts as well as maintaining excellent relationships with our existing customer base via regular phone calls and emails.

This role is a key part of the Sales team and will be accountable for achieving Company led sales targets and will drive growth with customers, promoting the Gnaw brand and working strategically with each account to maximise return.

Purpose of the Role:

Driving sales within the UK marketplace, focusing on benefits the Gnaw brand can deliver to customers. Using a variety of different approaches to build relationships with key stakeholders of new and existing accounts, showcasing the wide range of products in the Gnaw range.

Supporting the Field Sales Manager with all UK accounts, delivering excellent customer service and working with each customer’s needs and requirements. Working collaboratively with the wider team delivering the right products at the right price for our customers.

Developing strategy with the Field Sales Manager to deliver growth with existing partners and prospecting the marketplace to onboard new business.

Key Responsibilities:

Relationship Management

  • Working with customers nationally developing relationships with key decision makers understanding opportunities that exist and exploring them to build sales.
  • Awareness of current marketplace and ever-changing climate, spotting new opportunities in new sectors and areas to grow the Gnaw brand.
  • Networking successfully and managing professional relationships with existing and new customer base, increasing professional reach to develop business for the company.
  • Work collaboratively as a team exchanging ideas to benefit the company’s objectives. Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers and other service providers.
  • Pride in delivering high levels of customer service, working with quick response levels and attention to detail ensuring every customer is serviced to the best of our ability.
  • With strong presentation skills influencing and persuading customer base to work together and stocking the Gnaw brand

Sales Ability and Intuition

  • Use strong communication skills to convey the benefits of the brand and the products to customers, increasing product count with each customer to maximise sales.
  • Enter and update customer information in the database.
  • Take and process orders in an accurate manner.
  • Working with desire and hunger to hit Sales Targets set. Building Aims, Objectives and Strategies within the UK sales area with the Field Sales Manager to target key growth areas.
  • Maximise every opportunity with every customer working with them delivering high levels of customer service, enhancing all relationships and targeting growth with every account.
  • Proactively seeking potential new accounts and identifying leads and opportunities; you will be confident in making initial contact and effectively managing this process.
  • Effectively and efficiently co-ordinate prospecting activity, with forward planning of catchment areas and details of decision makers. Execution of prospecting activity and following up to close sales.
  • Develop KPIs with Sales Team to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute and help coordinate daily/weekly sales meetings for awareness of current opportunities and new areas of interest. Troubleshoot and problem solve to find solutions where obstacles are initially met.

Strategy and Development

  • Build approaches to target prospects increasing number of independent accounts and through independent channels; positioning the Gnaw brand as a market leader in premium, sustainable confectionery.
  • Manage pipeline analysing cold and warm leads taking action to convert and onboard customers, influencing the strategy to achieve results.
  • Ongoing lead generation and qualification using all avenues which are available.
  • Build yearly plan of key buying patterns and most effective time to prospect for best ROI.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best sales vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve performance.
  • Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation.
  • Help plan budgets within the Sales Team and key seasons of the year.

Brand and Product Awareness

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of company’s product portfolio, in-depth knowledge of all products and strongest selling in different sectors. Use available resources to explore consumer trends.
  • Create and build product material for Gnaw’s customer base, working with other departments to ensure commercially it creates value for both the company and the customer.
  • Researching industry trends, company history, competitors to ensure best knowledge of industry. Become an expert and advise customer accordingly.
  • Work with Marketing department to collaborating with customers to benefit all parties and promote the Gnaw brand.
  • Contribute and feedback to NPD within company, taking an active role in listening to what our customers want and working internally to develop the right product ranges for the right customer.

Qualifications & Skills

  • You should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Sales/Customer facing roles with B2B experience. It is essential that you have the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment and have a proven track record of hitting sales targets.
  • Must be an excellent sales professional with success in executing different types of sales activities to achieve KPIs. You will understand the full sales cycle and have experience from start to finish with proven results.
  • Have a proven track record of hitting sales targets with examples of hitting numbers set out and give examples of how obstacles have been overcome to achieve the target.
  • Ability to prioritise sales leads with awareness of live status of each lead and what’s needed to close. Resilience and intuition to handle lost leads constructively with a pragmatic approach to do everything possible to win the business.
  • Excellent organisational and follow-up skills, showing competency in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making.
  • Strong communicator both oral and written, with a great telephone manor. Excellent presentation skills with ability to read customers’ needs.
  • Commercial and Financial acumen with ability to apply discounts, calculate net and gross margins and promotions with retailers.
  • Previous experience of meeting clients in person and virtually using Microsoft Teams
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, creating & delivering reports
  • You will be expected to influence people at all levels; therefore, excellent communication, both written and verbal, and Interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Must be a skilled communicator and experience in building strong relationships with customers by phone, email and in person.
  • Must be comfortable presenting products or services over the phone as well as dealing with complaints and objections.
  • Must be able to organise tasks to ensure all customers needs are met to agreed timescales.
  • Ability to learn about products and services and describe/explain them to prospects
  • Strives to reach a high level of customer satisfaction through excellent customer service.
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of customers needs and wants through probing questions and by gaining an understanding of their business
  • Ability to work cohesively with a variety of cross-functional team members.
