Haymarket is a successful international specialist media company. We have over 60 market-leading brands in the consumer and B2B markets across the UK, US, Asia, India and Germany, connecting people and communities across digital, print, festivals, awards, conferences, and exhibitions.

Our HQ is located in Twickenham and is home to around 600 employees with a vast array of careers from journalism, video, marketing, sales and events to technology, digital development and product management.

The range of benefits are vast and include hybrid working, flexible hours, a generous pension plan, life assurance, up to 30 days holiday and a fabulous income protection policy. Oh, and our annual employee party is pretty special too!

Responsibilities:

Provision of day-to-day support to the Hub editors in the form of copy editing and article building. This work may be focused on one brand or across several, including working with the Group editor to produce articles for distribution across multiple brands.

Helping to ensure the VWG Hubs run smoothly, content is always accurate, engaging, search-optimised, and is produced with the audience’s needs in mind, as well as those of the client.

Ensure all content is published within 24 hours (the Hub SLA), subject to relevant approvals being received and processes followed; in addition, ensure audience feedback is acknowledged and forwarded to the brand within 24 hours of receipt, so that retailers’ expectations are proactively and robustly managed.

Covering for a Hub editor when they are on holiday, unwell or away from the office for other reasons, including filling in for them and managing all aspects of their brand Hub and stakeholder relations for up to two weeks.

Excellent stakeholder management, always striving to build and strengthen positive relationships through a helpful, diplomatic, professional and expert approach, and mindful that you are an ambassador for Wonderly.

Build a good understanding of the VWG retail network and your core audience’s needs to ensure content provides maximum utility and efficiency to users, and we provide helpful onward journeys. This should include retailer visits to gain first-hand experience of their working environment.

Build a solid understanding of the brand strategies and retailer communication objectives, so that Hub itself and the content you publish always reflects the brands’ priorities, guidelines and tone-of-voice.

Collaborate with the editors to contribute to monthly team meetings and share editorial best practice.

Proactively contribute to Wonderly’s culture by regularly participating in and contributing to agency meetings and creative and social activities.

Proactively seek new opportunities to undertake training to learn new skills and improve existing ones.

Skills and experience

A degree in journalism or English, or equivalent professional experience working on digital communications for a major brand across a busy news website. Magazine experience is also welcomed, but the role focuses exclusively on digital content.

Naturally collaborative, innovative, curious, diplomatic, empathetic and solution-focused.

The confidence to work in a busy client-facing, corporate office environment, where a calm, positive and diplomatic approach is vital.

A good understanding of how to manage workloads, time and resources to maximise productivity and impact.

Solid editorial skills, including writing, sub-editing, page structure and layout, using a content management system, and ideally video and multimedia production.

An interest in and aptitude for using audience feedback and tools such as Google Analytics to improve and increase engagement with digital content.

A keen eye for visual clarity, tone, style and accessibility, so articles are laid out and written in a way that can be easily understood, is respectful of the user’s time, and maximises the content’s effectiveness.

A basic understanding of SEO techniques, including use of keywords, menus, tags and other metadata to optimise pages for search, so content is easy and intuitive to find and navigate.

An awareness of and interest in current digital content, automotive and technology trends and innovations.
