About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity at our Social and Digital Agency (so.da) on our Lifestyle Team for an Editor position. Reporting to the Digital Strategist, you will be responsible for content on such brands as HGTV Canada, Food Network Canada, SLICE and History lifestyle brands.
The so.da team is a tight braintrust within a large corporation. It is comprised of a fast-paced and innovative team of strategists, editors, producers, analysts, community managers, designers and platform experts. They are problem-solvers, out-of-the-box thinkers, trend-hunters and data synthesizers. The team thrives on collaboration and communication, and no creative idea goes unexplored.
You will contribute by:
- Brainstorm, create, edit and upload original, compelling digital and cross-media content that supports the editorial mandate with formats including articles, galleries, series, interactive features and branded content
- Work with a roster of diverse content contributors; sourcing, fielding pitches, editing content, managing invoice intake and budget tracking
- Maintain updates with content assignments; managing the editorial calendar
- Ensure timely, data-driven comprehensive coverage of important events – calendar, seasonal, trending
- Efficiently build content in WordPress and other priority content management systems
- Honouring brand style guides: Edit for grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors across sites
- Ensure all content adheres to SEO best practices and recommendations from Strategists, as well as tech and research teams
- Coordinate with other brands to align content for cross-promotion and audience sharing.
- Source high-quality editorially accurate images and size using Photoshop, adhering to our site specs
- Work with Digital Producers to ensure alignment of series-related content with the content strategy
- Meet targets set by Strategists, departments, sales and marketing campaigns, and related business goals
- Collaborate with So.da on ideation and execution of content
- Manage execution of So.da original series and related excellent digital content and editorial
- Occasional opportunity to contribute content to Corus lifestyle brands and appear on-camera, across different platforms
- A solid understanding of the type of content that appeals to and engages target digital audiences within the Lifestyle space
- Excellent writing, editing, copy editing, fact-checking and Lifestyle content packaging skills
- Strong understanding of SEO using content management systems such as WordPress
- Understanding of analytics, including Google Analytics and Omniture
- Ability to manage and source a diverse roster of freelancers
- Strong Photoshop skills and experience deploying content via social platforms like Pinterest
- Experience deploying newsletters
- Ability to meet deadlines and the capability to multitask in a fast paced, active environment
