UMUK value e-Commerce as a key foundational channel to connect artists and fans. This is a key role within our central team to be a key merchandise production lead for our ecommerce product development strategy. You’ll work closely with labels and internal team to source, manage and produce merchandise product ranges with our labels and external suppliers.
Using your production management experience, you will deliver high quality and sustainable products in line with fashion & seasonal trends, whilst ensuring the product reaches our warehouse partners in time to ship product to fans. You will also oversee the print on demand processes and vendor mgmt for the group and help to manage production workflows for all merchandise production.
This role is unique in that it has design, production, creative and operational elements. The day to day will be varied, fast paced, and often high pressure but always rooted in making and delivering products that are in line with our labels wider product and commercial strategy and ensuring that we create a range of products that feel authentic to our artists and delight their fans.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Key Responsibilities
- Manage print production workflow and timelines for a UMUK artists across the group.
- Liaise with label, design and creative teams for full production brief as and when required and advise of any technical or production restrictions for proposed designs. The ability to offer a production solution or workaround would be desirable which may include seeking production advice from suppliers.
- Work closely with the central ecommerce operations team to make sure that product is delivered on time to our warehouse partners, updating them of print delays or issues affecting due dates.
- Researching and supplier management of new print suppliers.
- Arrange and implement general weekly production meetings for label marketing teams.
- Work closely with labels, managing plans for upcoming merch ranges to enable planning according to critical release dates and clearly communicate / oversee the production schedule to ensure the timely delivery of print artwork files.
- Manage print production workflow to include estimating, arranging visuals for approval, pre-production sampling if required, delivery of print files to printer, oversee production and ensure timely delivery to warehouse.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in music merchandise product development specifically in apparel product development / merchandising ideally in music / entertainment / fashion ecommerce.
- A passion for music and fashion and as it relates to merchandise. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable creative mindset to create engaging products with our labels and suppliers.
- Understanding of creating product for ecommerce brands.
- Ability to liaise with third parties, initiate and fulfil initiatives in a proactive manner.
- Print on Demand experience
- Sound knowledge / understanding of D2G, dye sublimation, cut and sew & screen print processes.
- Demonstrable relationships with printers and suppliers that could help to develop our production capabilities.
- Experienced in handling digital files with good understanding of composition required for digital, litho and screen print (CMYK, spot colour)
- Experience in paper litho / digital paper print, ideally with knowledge of paper stock weights and finishes
- Experience of main UK wholesale apparel suppliers with sound knowledge of products & blanks within the range in terms of styles and colours.
- Highly organised with ability to project manage job from approval of initial visual through to printed product to warehouse.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong excel skills.
- Meticulous eye for detail when double checking print specs and subsequent visuals to ensure no disparity.
- Methodical work ethic with ability to follow production / flow and process.
