Your new role:
The UK Retail, Consumer Products, Home Entertainment & Games Team focuses on driving retail sales revenue through best-in-class retail marketing, planning, and execution of retail activations. We strive to be where our fans are, be that in traditional bricks and mortar stores, e-commerce marketplaces and platforms, direct-to-consumer storefronts, or themed experiences. We work closely with our retail partners to provide innovative solutions that delight fans.
The WB Shop UK is rapidly changing and enabling the roll-out of the local D2C strategy. As E-commerce Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the WB Shop UK, working closely with a dynamic internal and external team of service providers, e-commerce colleagues, category leads, and CRM experts to closely monitor sales and optimise performance. Your understanding of the market, customer, and Warner Bros. Discovery brands and franchises will help support the growth strategy.
Your role accountabilities:
The E-commerce Manager will support the UK D2C agenda by having touchpoints across numerous stakeholders within the WBD business, championing the ‘WB Shop’ agenda and proposition both internally and externally.
Leading internal cross-functional working groups, you will ensure best-in-class merchandising on the site, including product setup, pricing, and working with design teams to deliver website creative on time. Work within a dynamic sales and marketing environment using a cross-divisional team approach to develop new opportunities, supporting the broader e-commerce strategic plan.
Hold regular planning meetings with Home Entertainment, Games, Consumer Products, and Customer Marketing, as well as other internal/external teams and e-commerce platform providers. Lead weekly trade meetings; evaluate sales, stock & margin – ensuring revenue is maximized, and performance is continually evaluated to drive future benefit to the business.
Maintain the rolling 12-month (rolling) trade plan, ensuring all divisional voices are heard and that all product releases and franchise & marketing campaigns are captured and accurate to facilitate effective planning, resulting in the right customer offer being delivered.
Lead the WB Shop transition to the new ongoing platform provider, winding down legacy systems and working towards new supply chain and operating models. Work with internal data experts and Digital Marketing teams to transition transactional and customer data from legacy systems and platforms to the ongoing data and insights solution, in accordance with GDPR.
Feed into the post-campaign analysis reviews alongside Warner Bros. Discovery agencies, to evaluate campaign performance and ultimately provide recommendations for future activity and make timely and commercial recommendations to the relevant stakeholders to drive growth within the D2C offering. This could include exclusive SKU offerings; brand trials; and exclusive product offerings.
Work closely with the Digital Marketing team and external agencies to curate the WB Shop newsletter, promoting the latest news and offers for opted-in subscribers. Share retail insights and learnings not only from the WB Shop but from the wider e-commerce channel to support the growth ambitions as set out by the Head of E-commerce and UK Retail Director.
Maintain the subscriber database, monitoring opt-ins and opt-outs, as well as ensuring the appropriate deletion of customers or subscribers wishing to have their personal data removed from WBD servers.
Qualifications & Experience:
Strong knowledge of e-commerce, and a good understanding of the market, trends, and technological advances/opportunities, including a sound understanding of retail operations; sales, stock, print-on-demand, dropship & profit margins.
Ideally, you will have experience in trading, be that within a trade planning function, or a buyer/merchandising product area.
A sound understanding of how to translate brand & product creatives/visuals into a meaningful commercial proposition on the WB Shop. Ideally commercial experience within the licensing or entertainment fields.
An ability to project revenue forecasts when required to support the budgetary planning process.
Marketing planning and activation experience would be highly beneficial, as would account management/sales experience.
A good understanding of the marketing mix, particularly media and sales promotions experience and understanding.
A strong communicator who is able to influence people at all levels within organisations, as well as strong presentation skills.
Proven experience working in a multi-cultural/matrix environment.
