Driver & Trainee Worktop Fitter
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our ranks as a Driver & Trainee Stone Worktop Fitter here at Granite Zone.
No experience of worktop installation required; the successful candidate will work towards becoming a Skilled Stone Worktop installer.
Established in 2009 we have continually grown whilst never deviating from our overall mission of "going the extra mile" for our customers.
All of our fabrication takes place at our Oldham centre where materials are processed using state-of-the-art machinery by our highly experienced stonemasons.
The installation team are based at our centre in Oldham. Jobs are assigned from here on a daily basis and travel to customer site will commence from here.

In remuneration for the successful candidate's services we offer a starting pay of £20,475 per annum, rising in increments to £32,175.
Rises in salary will be incremental based upon reaching set “Skill levels” which will be clearly outlined at the time of induction.
The role will initially involve driving, with our fully skilled worktop installer, to customer site, carrying stone into the customer’s property and assisting the installer during the worktop installation. On-site training will be given on a daily basis and the experience to climb the “skill level” ladder can be gained quickly dependant on the candidate’s enthusiasm.
Since the initial phase of the role requires driving of the company vehicle, which has a restricted insurance policy, the candidate must:
- have a clean driving license i.e. no points on their license;
- have no previous convictions or driving offences in the last 5 years;
- have no upcoming convictions or driving offences;
- have held a license for a minimum of 3 years.

As part of the vetting process we will ask for the candidate's driving license pre-interview which will be checked on https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence.
The role will require the lifting of stone worktops onto and off the company vehicle, carrying these into customer properties, and lifting them carefully onto the customer’s kitchen. Full Risk Assessments and training will be given to ensure correct lifting and carrying procedures are followed.
- The candidate must be fit and physically strong enough to lift heavy stone worktops. A test of lifting the worktops will be tested at the time of interview to allow us and the candidate determine feasibility of the role. Note that the risk assessment sign-off and training will be set prior to this test.
