Local Truck Driver - Full Time
- Chaps Transportation Ltd is looking for a hard working and motivated 5-ton truck driver with experience operating a tailgate. An Air Brakes Endorsement or Class 3 license is a bonus.
Position Summary
The driver is responsible for ensuring daily product deliveries to local warehouses, retail-stores, wholesale distributors and all types of customers. Make sure all deliveries are done accurately, timely and in a safe and efficient manner. The driver is also responsible for ensuring the operating vehicle meets the requirements of Motor Vehicle Act Regulations.
Responsibilities
Communicate with the dispatcher to know where to pick up and drop off your shipment.
Pick up the correct shipment from the shipper or shipping department, inspecting skids for defects and damage before you leave the pick up address.
Ensure shipments are secure during the transportation.
Plans and ensures timely deliveries according to schedule.
Delivery the correct shipment to the receiver or receiving department, show POD in the system.
Complete pre and post trip inspection in accordance with Motor Vehicle Act Regulations.
E-mail weekly Record of Duty and Monthly Maintenance Report, perform vehicle maintenance report weekly.
Inform management of any truck defects or equipment malfunction..
Qualifications
Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
Clean commercial driver’s abstract. ( Driver abstract and factor report )
Minimum 1 year 5ton truck delivery experience.
Be able to communicate with dispatchers and customers in fluent English.
Dedicated team player.
Capable of operating a power jack.
Physically fit and able to lift items (up to 40 lbs).
