Job Title: Driver with Caring Duties

MPA are currently recruiting for a CPC certified, Category D driver, with previous bus driving experience, to collect and convey clients/patients (including the aged, physically handicapped, epileptics, psychiatric, blind etc.) to Adult/Day Care facilities.

The Transport Services Division of Patient Experience provides a service in both the Acute and Community sectors of the Trust.

The Transport Management Team supplies the Trust with a comprehensive range of high-quality, customer-focused services to patients, clients, and visitors.

Location– Lisburn

Hours of Work – 37.5 hours per week

Salary- £11.11 PH

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Daily collection and conveyance of Trust clients and/or officers as allocated.

2. Collecting and conveying staff and clients for social and educational outings and during holiday trips.

3. Securing clients travelling with recommended restraint devices.

4. Where necessary assist clients, including those using wheelchairs or walking aids, etc in any manner possible with regard to their needs e.g. preparation for transit to (and on return home) centres and functions, doing up laces, switching off lights and appliances etc.

5. Assist clients into and out of vehicles

6. Providing, where appropriate, personal assistance to clients/patients and ensuring privacy, dignity and rights of clients.

7. Helping in the provision of individual and group programmes of care.

8. Participating in group and leisure activities.

9. Attending and contributing to reviews of clients/ patients as appropriate.

10. Participating in programme of formal supervision

11. Being available to listen and talk to clients/patients.

Essential Criteria:

A minimum of 6 months experience driving buses / coaches

Valid CPC

Current Full Category D Driving Licence with no restrictions– Valid for use within U.K.

The following are ESSENTIAL criteria which will be measured during the interview/ selection stage:

· Candidate can demonstrate experience in using passenger tail lifts and passenger ramps and ancillary equipment such as wheelchair webbing and clamps.

Position Summary:

The Driver is responsible for the safe delivery of freight and the safe delivery of customer products and services. The Driver will maintain communication with the on-site Customer Service Representative during delivery attempts as well as maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate and drive assigned vehicle to transport and deliver customer products and services.
  • Operate and clean vehicle to comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Report any damages or defects to On-Site Customer Service Representative.
  • Efficiently load, handle, and unload customer products and services.
  • Perform pre-trip inspection of assigned vehicle to ensure that it is in good condition for the delivery attempt.
  • Report any damages or defects to On-Site Customer Service Representative.
  • Comply with all traffic laws and ensure proper parking of vehicle.
  • Assist other team members as needed.

Additional Details:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work varied hours and include overnight stay in the city of Belfast when required (1-2 nights per month).
  • Ability to travel to other cities across the country when necessary (approximately 1-2 months per year).
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50lbs and able to operate general office equipment such as computer, copier, fax machine etc..
  • Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision while maintaining a low stress environment (privacy)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both written & spoken.
