Responsibilities
Working closely with manufacturing and production teams, provide mechanical design-drafting support to Engineering and Sales community for customer-specific applications and new engineering product development
Modify existing drawings and models as necessary for parts, assemblies and BOM’s as required to support all phases of bearing design
Create new drawings and models of parts and assemblies as required to meet internal and external customer requirements
Perform necessary calculation(s) to ensure tolerances and positional relationships are met
Ensure documents created meet specified requirements and adhere to established standards and procedures
Interface with all departments as required ensuring drawing information is understood
Support department automation development. Integrate new design automation tools into the design workplace (including automated Bills of Materials, improved CAD systems (SolidWorks), electronic storage & retrieval systems)
Contribute to meeting productivity and cost challenges of the organization
Support special projects and test programs, as assigned
Requirements
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree, two-year vocational school or equivalent experience in the areas of technical design and mathematics is required
Advanced technical degree, hydrodynamic bearing design and/or turbomachinery experience a plus
3+ years of design drafting with SolidWorks experience
Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Knowledge of common machining practices is required
Good computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite are required
Must be self-motivated, highly organized and have the ability to work independently. Attention to detail, proof reading materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines are required
Must have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing
