About the team?
Although your work location will be Cheltenham, you'll be part of the South Cotswolds team which includes Gloucester, Stonehouse, Stroud and Kemble.

About the job?
As a Dispatcher, you'll keep the customer at the heart of everything you do. You'll dispatch trains, help customers and ensure a safe and clean station environment.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Being dedicated to customer needs
- Ensuring the safe and punctual departure of trains from the station
- Providing helpful information and assistance to customers
- Ensuring the safety of customers, colleagues, visitors and contractors
- Ensuring the cleanliness of the station especially toilets, waiting rooms, platforms, stairs and subways
- Liaising with other key GWR departments to ensure accurate and timely customer information, especially in times of disruption
You'll need to be:
- Able to deliver extraordinary front-line customer service
- A self-starter with a can-do attitude
- Able to make decisions in a confident manner
- Able to remain calm yet confident and customer focussed in a crisis
- Comfortable working within strict procedures
As a minimum you'll need to have:
- The ability to work as part of a team or independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
About the location?
Cheltenham Spa sits a 5 minute drive away from Cheltenham Town Centre and has recently undergone a huge transformation to the car park which has bought more car park spaces. Cheltenham Hospital and the Racecourse are just a short drive away from the station. Cheltenham sees several Cross Country services to Birmingham and the North every hour as well as hourly services to Paddington, Bristol and Cardiff.
Working pattern?
You will need to be able to work shifts including weekends and bank holidays. Shifts start as early as 04:15hrs and some shifts can finish as late as 01:30hrs, therefore you must be able to travel to and from the station before and after public transport is available.

This advert is to create a pool of suitable candidates pending future vacancies being approved.
Candidates successfully shortlisted will be invited to undertake an ability test and competency based interview.
The successful candidate will then be required to meet the medical standards for the role including colour vision and hearing tests, as well as drugs and alcohol screening. A Basic DBS is also required.
