Role: Director, Research Science
Reporting to: Vice President, Research Science
The Director, Research Science is responsible for furthering the position of Dynata as a thought leader with our clients, internal stakeholders, and in the marketing research/first-party data industry. As part of this objective, they provide expert consultation and guidance to clients and internal teams on sampling/methodology issues and/or issues impacting the research participant experience, helping to set quality standards and build quality and methodological rigour into Dynata’s work. They speak authoritatively on these issues, carrying out research-on-research, creating material and content (e.g., for articles, POVs, training), and giving presentations and training for internal, client, and industry audiences – all of which demonstrate convincingly Dynata’s commitment to quality and sound research methodology. Although working closely, day to day, with AMER-based colleagues, the role is based in EMEA and has an EMEA focus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These include the following. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of management in the context of the role.
Data Investigations / Client Questions
  • Troubleshoot/conduct detailed project data quality investigations; communicate with internal teams and end clients to provide explanations, solutions, and recommendations
  • Answer sample/sampling-related and other methodological questions from client-facing, product, panel, and platform teams
Methodology & Best Practices
  • Support internal (cross-Dynata) projects or initiatives, bringing a research methodology voice and/or research expertise to the table
  • Assist in complex proposals/pitches and selected client relationship management activities (as an SME), provide training for internal teams (online, webinar, etc).
Research on Research
  • Design, consult and manage original research on relevant industry issues or on Dynata company-wide initiatives for key internal stakeholders (such as Marketing and top management)
  • Create and deliver primary/secondary RoR for conference presentations, webinars, Sales and Marketing usage, etc.
Thought Leadership & Client Relationship Building
  • Represent Dynata as a thought leader through creating and presenting conference speeches and papers as well as supporting Marketing with research methodology-based articles and opinion pieces
  • Represent Dynata’s viewpoint and needs on relevant industry initiatives/committees
  • Develop written and presented content for Dynata as when required
  • Deliver training courses to select external clients with the aim of increasing sales or reducing friction in the relationship

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • 8+ years work experience in the Market Research industry, either at a research company or a supplier to market research
Specialised Skills
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (a working knowledge of SPSS may be an advantage)
  • Understanding of research industry, research theory and practices
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities including mentoring and coaching

  • Proven results in managing changing priorities as well as maintaining direction and focus through pro-active planning and organised approaches to work, in order to meet deadlines and manage time effectively. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and be conscientious, reliable and punctual
