Job description
The Anglican Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk is a national centre of Christian pilgrimage and spiritual renewal. The Shrine attracts thousands of pilgrims and visitors each year.
We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Director of Communications & Marketing to join the Shrine’s senior management team and be responsible for:
The role carries significant strategic and operational accountabilities, and we seek an experienced communications and marketing professional, with excellent organisational and communication skills and a collaborative leadership approach.
Must be in sympathy with the ethos, teaching and policies of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham.
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Location: Walsingham, Norfolk
Contract: Full time, permanent

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Director of Communications & Marketing to join the Shrine’s senior management team and be responsible for:
- Promoting the Shrine as a national centre of pilgrimage
- Raising the profile and reach of the Shrine through an integrated strategy combining communications, PR, advocacy and social media
- Contributing to the development and delivery of the Shrine’s fundraising strategy (including capital and revenue fundraising campaigns and donor programmes)
- Developing an effective programme to market the Shrine’s pilgrim and visitor offer
- Managing the E-Commerce aspect of the Shrine Shop, thinking creatively about new products, advertising and promotions
- Managing relevant staff, currently the Shop Manager, Membership Manager and Head of Pilgrim Engagement.
