Overall Purpose of the Role

The Marketing Director, Creative, Media and Partnerships (TBC) will be responsible for creating best-in-class initiatives that leverage the power of the Disney brands to cut through the media ‘clutter’ and deliver unrivalled results. Leading a cross-functional marketing team, ensure all campaigns are fully optimised to elevate the Disney brands, engage the Disney fans and achieve commercial sales targets.

  • Be responsible for leading the development and implementation of high impact marketing initiatives to elevate the Disney brands, franchises and products across EMEA.
  • Work with key partners across the business and outside the organisation ensuring campaigns support commercial goals and deliver a strong return on investment (ROI). Bringing creative vision, strategic insight and business acumen in equal measure, help to bring a creative and business focused culture within the team, keeping abreast of relevant industry, consumer and media trends to ensure our campaigns are innovative, relevant and impactful for consumers.
  • Lead marketing creative for CPGP, delivering outstanding creative to support campaigns, both commercial and editorial.

Lucas global marketing

As part of the global Lucasfilm marketing hub, and with direction from the Vice President, Marketing, oversee the production and delivery of marketing toolkits and creative assets for global and EMEA usage (including localisation) that deliver against the strategic needs outlined in the Lucas brand playbook.

Representing EMEA marketing needs for Marvel, DMCE and DAPP

Liaise with the global marketing hubs to oversee the implementation of marketing toolkits, ensuring globally developed marketing solutions are sufficiently tailored and relevant to needs of the EMEA region and key accounts, and ensuring creative assets are optimised and localised for EMEA usage.

Areas of Responsibility

Creative

  • Partner with local markets to understand their needs
  • Work with EMEA and global marketing creative team to deliver content and assets to local markets in EMEA that best meet the needs of the region, driving consumer affinity with The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) franchises, raising awareness and consideration amongst consumers and driving product sales
  • Partner with global TWDC creative teams across all regions to identify creative assets that can be leveraged and adapted for EMEA CPGP campaigns and share assets created for EMEA with thet team
  • Review agency resources and identify opportunities to work with diverse creative talent
  • Partner with EMEA local markets to understand how creative assets and content can be optimised to improve future ROI
  • Maintain expert level of awareness of industry trends to ensure marketing content remains relevant, innovative and competitive

Media

  • Lead the development of EMEA media strategy and media plans for key CPGP’s franchise and category initiatives in priority markets
  • Work closely with the TWDC category marketing teams and TWDC integrated marketing teams to create integrated media plans which highlight how TWDC media is coherent and complimentary to licensee media
  • Partner with local markets to deploy regional media guidance into local market implementation
  • Ensure the planning and implementation of media campaigns is within budgets agreed by franchise, event and market
  • Work closely with media agencies and local markets to identify media best practice and opportunities for constant optimisation to maximise ROI

Partnerships

  • Unlock partnerships with third party brands in categories beyond hardlines, softlines and FMCG that deliver high revenue or marketing value for TWDC via tailored pitches
  • Align key partners spend around Signature marketing programs
  • Build compelling offers and preferential rate cards to commercial partners
  • Work with Disney integrated marketing to unlock support for CPGP within broader Studio / TWDC partnerships
  • Create marketing vehicles at a category and franchise level to help unlock promotional commitment

Lucasfilm (Global Marketing Leadership)

  • In conjunction with the Vice President, Marketing and with the support of the Marketing Manager, Lucasfilm/Marvel, deliver against the strategic objectives outlined in the brand playbook
  • Have overall responsibility allocated marketing budget spend secured through AOP and ensure budgets are assigned and reconciled to each marketing campaign

Representing EMEA marketing needs for Marvel, DMCE and DAPP

  • Oversee the implementation of marketing solutions that are relevant to the needs of the EMEA region and key accounts, ensuring EMEA delivers maximum ROI for commercial and marketing value

General

  • Maintain a close relationship with the global marketing teams, understanding their global strategies and guidance whilst representing the EMEA perspective and business performance
  • Lead team through ambiguity and change – consistently engaging with, developing, and influencing teams effectively to a build strong collaborative environment
  • Lead through the team to build, develop and retain best-in-class marketing talent

  • Accountable for leading the development and implementation of campaigns to deliver on agreed brand marketing and creative strategies and objectives
  • Accountable for unlocking partnerships that deliver high revenue or marketing value for TWDC
  • Accountable for ensuring marketing creative delivers on TWDC’s heritage of creative excellence
  • Accountable for delivering against the strategic objectives as part of the global hub for Lucasfilm
  • Accountable for overseeing the implementation of Marvel, DMCE and DAPP marketing solutions, ensuring EMEA delivers maximum ROI for commercial and marketing value
  • Accountable for ensuring campaigns are delivered on time and on budget
  • Accountable for operating within legal and brand parameters and undertaking necessary training as provided by the relevant department and ensuring the team are also adhering to said guidelines
  • Accountable for successful leadership and development of the team
  • Accountable for cultivating and maintaining productive relationships and collaborating across departments internally and externally

Experience and Professional Qualifications Required

  • Degree level education in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Significant understanding and demonstrable commercial experience of creative, media and partnerships leadership in the context of the retail and consumer products marketing
  • Proven experience operating at a senior level within TWDC or other global brand
  • Proven experience creating and implementing a team vision including translating the vision into goals, objectives and deliverables
  • Experience in advertising production, beneficial
  • Experience in leading production teams on pan-regional and global campaigns with global budgets; understanding cultural sensitivities and creating content that can be understood and repurposed across many different languages and territories
  • Significant experience working with creative teams across the globe, and building a network of resources across different time-zones to drive efficiencies with production turnaround time
  • Demonstrable understanding of multiple categories across consumer products
  • Proven experience of building effective relationships within a matrix organisation, leading and managing change and collaboration across departments to achieve financial targets and joint goals
  • Proven experience of leading, developing and managing the performance of a team

Skills Required

  • An ability to develop, manage and deliver successful marketing campaigns at leadership level through cross-functional teams/stakeholders
  • Brand marketing credentials and a blend of strategic and operational marketing skills
  • Digital marketing experience and accompanying skills
  • Proven collaboration skills dealing with multiple stakeholders in a global and regional capacity
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to craft and deliver a compelling pitches
  • Ability to influence and achieve buy-in at all levels, and be flexible and adaptable with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to operate with a creative lens and inspire creativity within the team
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with multiple levels of management across global teams
  • Financial acumen - an ability to understand and drive a P&L and quarterly forecasting process
  • Ability to understand and work within the legal and brand guidelines provided by the relevant department
  • Demonstrable people management and team leadership skills; skilled in leading and motivating people through change and uncertainty
  • Computer literate including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Keynote
  • Written and spoken English for business use, essential; professional proficiency in another European language, beneficial
  • Skilled in recognising impactful creative, digital, social and brick and mortar softlines marketing
