We’re looking for a Cook in Charge to join our team at the Charterhouse Outdoor Centre working 37 hours per week (on an annualised basis) and term time only (44 weeks). This contract is fixed term until January 2024.

The Kilve Court, Greatwood and Charterhouse Centres are the largest provider of Outdoor Education in Somerset and enjoy a reputation for high quality and standards. The Centres offer courses in a number of outdoor activities and academic subject areas. They are situated in a fantastic position in Somerset with immediate access to a variety of outdoor locations.
What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of children in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. You will be responsible for the daily delivery of suitable and appropriate meals for all clients and service users. Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Overseeing all domestic assistants including the oversight of the dining area, cleanliness, food service and preparation of meals.
- Controlling the storage of goods within prescribed guidelines and recording/dating foodstuffs as appropriate.
- Monitoring and maintaining the programme for high standards of kitchen and dining room cleanliness and hygiene, including the cleaning of machinery where appropriate.
- Promoting the strong provision of customer service.
- Regular contact with all services users and stakeholders.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:
- Experience within a service industry/ catering experience
- Knowledge of safe food storage and recording.
- Experience in responding to the demands of an ever changing environment and using your own initiative.
- Experience working within a small team
- Experience working with children

Anything else I should know?
The salary for the role is Grade 14, ranging from £20,381 to £21,130 per annum for 37 hours, term time only.
