Job overview

Our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team is recognised for its expertise and ability to support clinical and corporate services, which has been and continues to be vital to the delivery of safe services.

The Group Clinical Director of Infection Prevention and Control will be a highly visible, authoritative individual, who provides assurance to the Group Chief Nurse and DIPC that systems are in place and correct policies and procedures adhered to across the organisations to ensure safe and effective healthcare.

Main duties of the job

You will have a recognised qualification in infection prevention and/or public health and have significant clinical practice in this field, at least 2 years’ experience at an 8D level, with experience of leading an IPC team. You will need excellent interpersonal, organisational and leadership skills to take the IPC agenda forwards, and the ability to act as a role model in promoting the IPC principles across the Group, influencing, and improving the quality of care delivered to our patients. We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking leader to join our Group Corporate Nursing team working across Epsom and St Helier Hospital NHS Trust and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Group Clinical Director of Infection Prevention and Control is a key clinical nurse leader and group IPC lead responsible for the strategic leadership of the IPC service and ensuring the Healthcare Group is compliant with related national statutory responsibilities.

The post holder will work closely with the Group Chief Nursing Officer/DIPC, Site Lead Infection Control Doctors, Site IPC Lead Nurses and the Site Leadership teams to develop the IPC strategy.

Applicants should have significant experience at a senior nurse level in IPC working in both acute and community settings.

In addition to having excellent communications skills, the ability to respond to critical and immediate changes of work priorities and demands is crucial to this role.

Working for our organisation

This is an exciting time to join the newly formed Group of both Epsom and St Helier Hospitals NHS Trust and St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Working as a Hospital Group allows for more joined up decision making for local people, a larger and more resilient clinical workforce, reduced variation in care and access to a wider range of services for our patients.
