A Digital Workplace Engineer (Digital Productivity Services) is required for a permanent role paying up to £40,836.97 per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based at BTP Force Headquarters, Camden, London.

BTP is the national Police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year.

We have a created a brand-new Digital Workplace function within our Technology department at BTP, with a strategic goal to improve collaboration, communication, mobility, connectivity and productivity for our BTP family. Digital Workplace currently consists of 3 teams: End User Computing, Digital Productivity Platforms (backend of M365) and Digital Productivity Services (frontend of M365).

This Digital Workplace Engineer role sits within the Digital Productivity Services team and will contribute towards the implementation of Digital Productivity services and solutions that improve collaboration, communication, mobility, connectivity and productivity. We have begun an exciting journey into the world of PowerApps, Power Automate and SharePoint Online and this role will contribute towards the further development of secure and robust solutions that elevate our success in this area as well as delivering well-governed solutions that make the best use of our Microsoft 365 E5 capability. We have also taken responsibility for the development of our IT Service Management platform (Freshworks Freshservice), which will be key to automation and process streamlining initiatives.

Digital Productivity Services is a constantly evolving area and will the postholder will be responsible for ensuring the continuous development of their skillset in-line with existing and emerging technologies. Automation is a key component of productivity, and the role will work closely with the business to identify, design and implement solutions that streamline business processes and add value to the business. This role therefore also acts as a 'consultant' to the business and will require stakeholder management and communication skills. The role will also manage the service requests and incidents related to Digital Productivity Services, ensuring resolutions within Technology SLAs.

Whilst this role sits formally within the Digital Productivity Services branch within Digital Workplace, the postholder will gain exposure across the Digital Workplace strands and may be required to work in other Digital Workplace areas when required. This is applicable to all roles within Digital Workplace.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised. The earliest this will be is September 2023.
