We currently have an excellent opportunity for someone with either a Simulation background with a desire to learn about Materials & Manufacturing, or a Materials/Manufacturing engineer with a desire to learn about the simulation tools and methods we have at our disposal to join the team and contribute to this exciting journey.
You will sit within The Materials Digital Tools & Data team who are leading the way in transforming how we do Materials Engineering in Rolls-Royce including development & application of physics-based models that allow us to optimise a material or a process before we start making components, deploying automated microstructural analysis solutions (including Machine Learning) to speed up analysis and deliver richer datasets, and automating our processes to drive efficiency across our function.

What you’ll be doing:

Support customers in Materials and the wider Civil business to apply simulation tools to real-world manufacturing problems

Collaborate with University network to deliver cutting edge research projects in the field of Materials simulation and data analytics

Maintain the tools, methods, software owned by the Materials function through training, documentation, and deploying software with our IT function

Drive Digital Transformation in the Materials function through documentation, training, and coaching in digital capability

Undergraduate degree in a technical subject (Materials, Engineering, Maths, Sciences, Computer Science)

Awareness of the Rolls-Royce C” process would be useful
And at least one of the following:

Experience of using engineering simulation tools

Developing simple software tools in python, Matlab, or similar (e.g. task automation, data analysis, machine learning)

Knowledge of Engineering Materials behaviour, process-microstructure-property relationships for gas turbine materials
