Job description

At Armadillo, we work with some of the world’s biggest brands, including Disney, McDonald’s, P&O Cruises and Cunard Cruises, to produce beautifully creative and effective CRM campaigns.

We believe in the long-term success that comes from always putting the best interests of our clients and the well-being and progression of our staff at the heart of everything we do. We have ambitious plans to grow the agency. Our aim is to become the UK’s most recommended CRM agency: the one everyone wants to work with or for.

We are on the lookout for a Lead Digital Designer to join our Creative team to help deliver excellent work and nurture our Digital Designers. Could this be you?

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the creative output of work from your team, by setting high standards and critiquing work

  • Supporting the professional development of the Digital Design team including conducting performance reviews

  • Understanding how brands behave, implementing and evolving guidelines

  • Demonstrating excellent design skills in layout, typography and image creation/manipulation (vector based illustrations or photographic manipulation), and critiquing the layouts by creatives in your team

  • Creating innovating and engaging responsive design solutions for all devices that demonstrate an understanding of the content hierarchy by adapting where required for different formats

  • Creating innovative, clear and engaging UI systems as well as measurable interactivity

  • Bringing content to life with animations, by creating clear storyboards and generating high quality animated content

  • Lead the delivery of client strategy and data goals, and presenting your solutions with rationales that demonstrate how your work can influence those goals

  • Demonstrating how a user will move through communications (within and between campaigns), whether single or multiple emails, web, push, and app using wireframes or low-fi designs

  • Create concepts in collaboration with others that aim to meet & exceed project performance goals, and ladder up to client goals

  • Creating presentation documents with a helpful order, engaging layout and useful annotations for work that is sent to clients and accompanied by clear verbal narration when in person

At Armadillo, we are a collaborative team, so you will also need to work closely with other employees in various departments throughout the agency, maintaining excellent working relationships with colleagues at all levels. We are looking for a strong communicator who will be able to give effective project status updates and share knowledge within your team and with other departments throughout the agency. A Lead Digital Designer at Armadillo should be ambitious, motivated and driven, and constantly looking to improve the quality of their work - does that sound like you?

Some more practical skills we also look for here are:

  • Expert experience of using the Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD and After Effects

  • Skills in using Microsoft (Word, PPT & Excel) and the Google equivalents

  • Understanding of Harvest, Trello and Forecast are desirable but can be taught

As well as this, it’d be beneficial for you to understand the basics of CRM, including the channels used (email, web, push & app) and the principles behind CRM such as affinity, loyalty, and the importance of handling customer data. As this role is a discipline lead position, it would also be desirable for you to have experience managing a team and the creative output of that team.

At Armadillo, we truly appreciate the hard work & dedication of our employees, and so we offer the following benefits to all Armadillos:

  • Hybrid environment – 2 days in our central Bristol office / 3 days optional office/home working
