Full Time Sheffield, England 29871 - 32005 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

The communications team aim to establish and embed Social Work England’s positive reputation with the public, professionals, and stakeholders. We take an audience first approach, supporting the organisation to meet its business objectives through meaningful, proportionate and timely activity that facilitates engagement.

As a multidisciplinary team every role counts and is valued. We have expertise across strategy, marketing, media, stakeholder engagement, internal communications, social media and digital, and with positive spirit we maintain a firm focus on how our work impacts people.

Purpose of the role

Driven by a passion for effective digital communication, social media and creative content, you will play a key role in embedding our work with the public, social workers, wider stakeholders, and people with lived experience of social work practice.

With a commitment to audience insight, possibly gleaned from a no/low-cost campaign background, you will drive an approach to digital content that is informative, accurate and narrative-focused. You’ll test new ways of engaging with our audiences and delivering insight and evaluation to ensure we’re innovative in our approach.

You’ll utilise your ambition, positive attitude and creativity to meticulously plan, test and develop content to tell the story of social work, whilst also supporting our year-round projects and campaigns. You’ll have a good understanding of online reputation and risk and show a commitment to continued development, keeping up to date with trends and understanding our place online as a public sector body.

You will also feed into wider communications strategies and planning, offering valuable digital experience. You will play an active role in improving our services and embed our corporate narrative to raise standards, enable change and promote confidence in social work.

What you will do

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver fresh, engaging digital assets optimised for multiple digital platforms, including social media, website and newsletters.
  • Lead on the development and delivery of our content calendar, aligned to and informed by annual communications and business objectives.
  • Monitor online communications and conversations, building an open dialogue with the social work profession and working in partnership with other teams to respond in an appropriate and timely manner, where necessary.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify and deliver narrative-driven content and case studies, utilising an understanding of safeguarding and data protection.
  • Work with the digital engagement manager on the development and implementation of our digital strategies, using user testing, reporting and digital marketing skills.
  • Lead on social data and analytics to assess the impact of our digital activity to offer informed recommendations.
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices and technologies to test and deliver content.
  • Work closely with the digital engagement manager and wider communications team in the planning and delivery of website content, video and podcast audio editing, stakeholder management, events and internal communications projects.
  • Work with the digital engagement manager to identify and build excellent relationships with stakeholders, partners, advocates and influencers at all levels to increase our communication reach.
  • Ensure our social media policies and guidance are kept up-to-date and embedded across the organisation, leading regular best practice and information workshops.
  • Act as a brand ambassador across the organisation.

Your skills, knowledge and experience

  • Experience of social media channel management, content management systems and digital design, ideally in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Experience of designing, developing and producing compelling multi-media content using Adobe Creative Suite, for example graphic design, blogs, vlogs, podcasts, film and animation and audio, whether in a personal or professional capacity.
  • Excellent content and editorial skills that help bring complex issues to life in a human and engaging way, including professional-standard copywriting ability and a strong understanding of brand, design and layout.
  • A critical eye for creative content design and an understanding of visual language.
  • The ability to quickly understand systems to contribute to the development of processes.
  • The ability to gather and analyse insight using Google Analytics, social media monitoring tools and in-platform data to understand trends, identify and articulate risks, and to develop and test solutions with stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with online marketing approaches (such as SEO) and be able to recommend appropriate communications routes.
  • Experience of designing and delivering programmes of work, using project governance and planning skills and creative flair to solve problems and tackle challenges to effective engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with a collaborative and solution focused approach to deliver results.
  • An excellent understanding of accessibility, copyright and data protection in relation to content management.
  • A proven role model for respectful, open and honest behaviour including a demonstrable commitment to equality and diversity in service delivery.
