We are looking for great communicators who are keen to apply their skills in web content writing and design, engagement and consultation with colleagues and residents, and developing simple solutions to complex scenarios.
Excellent written English and an ability to make content accessible and engaging for all, regardless of their communication needs, are a must.
What will you be doing?This role will require you to get stuck in and work with stakeholder across the organisation, meeting with Subject Matter Experts in services to understand their online presence and see how we can enhance the online offer.
Our website and online forms are the first point of access to most of the services we offer, so we want to ensure all our content is written clearly, is easy to understand and easy to find.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be:
- Reviewing our digital and online offer, looking for enhancement and improvement opportunities in terms of written content and navigation.
- Taking our existing content and re-writing or drafting new content to help customers better understand the services we offer and the process to access them.
- Simplifying content into plain English and Easy Read formats, so that services are more accessible as the content is easy to understand.
- Working closely with services to agree and refine content ahead of publication.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A passion for putting the customer at the heart of everything they do
- A thirst for knowledge and the skills to translate complex services into easily understood, useful and usable customer content
- Excellent written English
- Ability to develop relationships and drive forward activity
- High levels of attention to detail
- This role will be part-flexible, with your base location being in our Northampton offices, however there will be a requirement to attend our Towcester and Daventry offices.

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role. The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
