Digital Applications Apprenticeship - Trainee Communications Clerical Officer

Location - Kirklands, NHSL Headquarters

Annex 21 - As a trainee your pay is determined as a percentage of pay for qualified staff, in accordance with Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change terms and conditions, however as NHS Scotland is a living wage employer you will be paid £23,362 (if part time hours, the salary will be pro-rata)

NHS Lanarkshire are delighted to announce that an unique opportunity within Lanarkshire for a Digital Applications Apprenticeship - Trainee Communications Clerical Officer

This role will be based with NHS Lanarkshire’s Communications Department and will have a focus on digital communication. You will work alongside the Senior Communications Officer to assist in developing NHS Lanarkshire’s social media platforms.

You will also work alongside the Lead Web and Digital Officer to assist in developing and maintaining NHS Lanarkshire’s public website.

This role gives you the oppurtunity to assist in various tasks (full details are contained within the attachments)

  • Preparing reports on social media performance for review
  • Assisting with the scheduling of social media posts to ensure maximum engagement
  • Providing support to team members on social media marketing-related tasks
  • Designing and developing WordPress web pages
  • Collaboration with other teams to gather web requirements
  • Testing website for accessibility compliance
  • Assisting with regular website maintenance tasks
  • Preparing website analytics for services


Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months from 21st August 2023.

In order to be eligible for the Modern Apprenticeship Programme, applicants must be aged between 16 to 19 years old on 1st August 2023 (or up to 29 years for disabled applicants or those that are care experienced*) and should be able to demonstrate that they can work to SCQF level 5.

This could be an excellent opportunity for you to gain on-the-job training that will support you in developing a range of skills, you will be involved in developing social media campaigns, creating graphic and visual content, analysing social media data and providing support on social media marketing-related tasks.

You will be required to work towards a Level 6 SCQF qualification in Digital Applications, this appointment will be fixed term for a period of up to one year and will lead to a relevant nationally recognised qualification.

You should be highly motivated and committed to join our Digital Applications Apprenticeship.

You should be a good communicator with an ability to understand a range of procedures and processes, with a particular interest in digital communications, along with a positive approach to work, with basic IT skills and knowledge of software packages.

This Apprenticeship does not require previous experience within this sector and we would therefore encourage applications from school leavers and young people with limited work experience.
