Job Description Summary
A DevOps Engineer with a solid background in one area of application development or related IT skillset. Working in one of our cross-disciplinary teams engineers will have the opportunity to develop their technical knowledge and understanding as well develop, practice and demonstrate the workplace skills and behaviours required for this job role. They will also join and participate in Engineering Guilds and Working Groups to actively promote the DevOps brand in LBG.

The Data Platform Services (DPS) Lab operates within the Data & Machine Learning Platform with a purpose to "Enable the group to gain value from data by providing safe and efficient Group-wide data capabilities and services."
The Lab contains data users, data specialists and engineering colleagues who are committed to providing an insight platform for the groups user communities, so they can input and analyse their data. Delivering what our users want is at the heart of our business and this is true in the Lab where we deliver both products and experiences to make data analysis an accessible asset for our colleagues.

About the role:
You’ll use the latest tools and techniques to build data that will enable the bank of the future, working collaboratively with Value Streams who provide the opportunities to deliver data solutions to meet Enterprise Data’s key strategic goals, as well as working with the other service labs within Enterprise Data.
You'll join a multidisciplinary team on our journey to the cloud. The team is responsible for infrastructure and software engineering to ensure that our data platforms and capability meet the bank's needs now and in the future.
So what experience & skills do I need to apply?
It would be essential to have the following:
- Passionate about continuous integration, continuous delivery and automation
- Skilled in one or more languages such as Java, Scala or Python
- Strong experience in config as code tools such as Ansible, Terraform or similar
- Experience in cloud computing platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Azure or AWS or any other
- Experience working in container environments in particular Kubernetes and Helm
Desirables
- Able to contribute to defining objectives to continuously improve and measure metrics
- Able to listen, reflect and respect the views of others as well as being able to communicate your own opinion but you're not strongly tied to it
- A self starter, who encourages and motivates the teams around you.
- Experience working with large scale data storage and processing solutions such as Hadoop, Spark and data warehousing
- Knowledge and experience of agile principles and practices
