The Role
We are looking for a driven and talented development project manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join EdPlace and be part of Supporting Education Group, the UK’s leading education group focussed on supporting every aspect of a child’s learning journey.
We are building a 21st century private tuition solution that will enable students from all walks of life to access the private tuition and educational content that they need to succeed in their academic lives.
The company is at an exciting stage of its growth having recently joined together with 3 tuition brands and is developing its AI recommendation through the Innovate UK Smart Grant scheme. In this role you will have the opportunity to support our existing teams manage integration projects and deliver our development roadmap on time and on budget.
As our Development Project Manager you will agree business requirements with key stakeholders and lead our outsourced development teams to deliver those requirements. You’ll be responsible for prioritising work before and during sprints. You will also complete user acceptance testing in collaboration with other business stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage in-house/outsourced development teams to deliver product requirements; ensuring sprint planning keeps on track and meets business needs.
- Report key outcomes, milestones, and risks to senior management.
- Ensure the product is stable and secure and adheres to best practice.
- Monitor site and app performance, optimising where necessary.
- Manage tech budgets effectively.
- Develop user stories and define acceptance criteria.
- Set sprint goals.
- Define user acceptance tests and quality assurance.
- Plan product releases.
- Follow progress of work and address production issues during sprints.
- Communicate progress, risks and plans to the wider team.
A bit about you:
If you’re looking to work on a product that’s having a real impact in the world and on the lives of young people and want to have responsibility for the delivery of B2C mobile and web applications, this may be the role for you. You may be an existing project manager or someone who’s transitioning into the role from a delivery background. Either way you’ll have strong technical experience of product development and an enthusiasm for product design, discovery and validation.
Essential requirements:
- Relevant demonstrable experience as a Project Manager or similar role in development
- A technical background with knowledge of software development, web, and mobile technologies
- Experience working in Scrum environments
- Experience working with agencies/remote teams
- Knowledge and experience of Jira
- Wireframing experience
- An understanding of CI/CD and testing paradigms/methodologies
- Experience working in a small team and/or with a high degree of autonomy
Additional requirements:
- Excellent web and native mobile development experience
- An eye for detail
- A passion for helping parents and students
- A hands-on, entrepreneurial approach
