Your role
We’re looking for a Desk Head to:
- ensure that the activities of the Desk comply with all relevant regulation, policies and standards. Fostering an effective risk culture and living the GWM Desk Head Risk Supervision Principles
- demonstrate and support an effective sales culture with an effective prospecting, sales & acquisition process, regularly review sales plan performance against the Desk ambition
- lead by example, driving effective business development initiatives, taking personal responsibility for growth of the client and asset base.
- ensure effective use of UBS’s world leading platform of products and services to bring the best of the Bank for the benefit of our clients in achieving their financial goals and objectives.
- Coach each Client Advisor to achieve individual ambitions and deliver the GWM Client Promise
- Regularly assess team members’ strengths and development opportunities, provide candid assessments and drive the implementation of improvement measures.
- assess on a formal basis whether Client Advisers on the Desk have attained and maintained threshold competence as per the WM UK Training and Competence regime.
- lead the team to success and endeavour to ensure that all Client Advisors are sufficiently equipped to provide their clients with appropriate solutions based on the clients' needs, goals, and objectives.

Your expertise
- ideally 2 years of experience as a Desk Head or other substantive leadership role with a leading financial institution
- a firm grasp of UK financial markets and regulatory frameworks
- RDR Level 6 qualification in securities and derivatives
- a track record of leadership, mentoring and coaching success
- great communication skills (and you know how to handle challenging situations)
- an ability to quickly adapt to changing market situations, technology and business needs
- a skill at creating a positive business culture
