Job description
FLSA STATUS: Exempt.
- Makes final sketch of proposed drawings, parts lists, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
- Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
- Makes any adjustments or changes necessary or desired. Modifies existing documentation per Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Draws charts for presentations of statistical data. Draws finished designs from sketches. Selects suitable materials and finishes.
- Uses computer-assisted draftings (CAD) equipment and software.
- Makes engineering computations, writes specifications and makes adjustments in drawings of specification. Prepares design releases for manufacturing.
- Verifies completed work, checking dimensions, materials to be used, and quantities.
- Assists engineers in development of complex drawings involving some individual creativeness, application of advanced drafting techniques and knowledge of practical, mechanical and fabrication problems.
- Prepares product cost estimates.
- Management must contact the Human Resources department if adding to or changing a significant number of duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- College level education highly desirable with specialized instruction in drafting principles/techniques.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering and plus.
- Four years of related experience in technical, and manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical drafting work.
- High mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
- Knowledge of CAD equipment and MIL-STD drawings.
- Knowledge of technical supervision techniques.
- Knowledge of quality control.
- Knowledge of project management techniques.
- Knowledge of estimating methods.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering.
- Ability to take calculated risks based on sound judgment.
