Job description
DK Knowledge has a great opportunity for a bright and enthusiastic Design Assistant to work on their award-winning illustrated reference books.
You’ll help with all aspects of our books, starting with initial ideas and rough sketches through to commissioning and layout of illustrations, images and type. Our books cover a wide range of subjects, from science, nature, history, and culture to language learning and educational materials, and we publish for older children, adults, and families.
We like designers who can think editorially, with an understanding of what makes sense for the reader. We need you to be passionate about books and publishing, with excellent design and typographic skills, creative flair and a desire to learn.
With a recognised design qualification, you may already have some work experience under your belt or this could be your first job. You will be a fluent user of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, and open to learning and using other software as needed. A talent for project management is a bonus.
The initial placement will be with one of the teams creating books for adults. To apply for the role, please submit your most recent CV and cover letter. Please attach a PDF with 6-10 samples of your design work with your application.
