This fixed-term post is to provide replacement teaching while the postholder is on research leave.The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of African and Brazilian Portuguese within the Sub-Faculty of Portuguese by offering 24 hours of lectures or seminars over the course of the year. They will also be responsible during Full Term for providing six weighted hours a week (equivalent to four contact hours) of undergraduate tuition in Portuguese language and literature. This is likely to be based in the Faculty, but primarily for students at St Peter’s College, St Catherine’s College, Hertford, Pembroke and Jesus for whom the individual will have a co-ordinating role.
The successful candidate will be expected to give tutorials (small-group teaching, typically of 2-3 students), seminars, and language classes to first-, second-, and fourth-year undergraduates and visiting students, and may be required to teach postgraduate seminars. The undergraduate literature teaching involves tutorials and seminars on the African and Brazilian set texts for the first-year examinations; and relevant texts for paper VIII and paper XI in the 2nd and 4th years.
