Position Summary

Reporting to the Dispatch Assistant, the Driver is required to deliver materials and equipment to and from job sites, suppliers, and the shop, as well as keep the shop clean, organized, and stocked as directed by the Dispatch Staff and Service Manager.

Responsibilities

• Pick-up, delivery, and return of materials
• Delivery and pick up of Company equipment
• Clean and organize warehouse and tool lock ups
• Monitor and replenish consumables
• Receive materials and equipment, including monthly filter order
• Minor maintenance of physical plant
• Minor maintenance to Company equipment
• Minor maintenance of Company vehicles
• Secure warehouse and physical plant
• Assistance on job sites when required

Qualifications

• Knowledge of lower mainland, and ability to read map (not just GPS)
• Must hold a valid BC Drivers license with a minimum rating of N
• Ability to plan for completion of assigned tasks in efficient manner
• Detail oriented and well organized
• Ability to work as a team player
• Able to work autonomously without supervision
• Motivated

Pick Up and Delivery of Materials

• Pick up materials from suppliers and deliver to shop or site as directed by the Assistant Dispatcher and Dispatcher
• Before all departures, plan most efficient route between destinations, using knowledge of lower mainland, information on latest traffic reporting, and a map book ; DO NOT rely on GPS information alone
• Ensure every complete order and immediately notify office if material remains on back-order
• Review each order to ensure material provided by supplier matches material identified in purchase order, and material is new/undamaged condition, and immediately report any discrepancies to office for clarification and further instruction
• Clearly and accurately identify all material when returning to shop and placing in applicable parts area, ensuring quick and efficient identification by others at a later time
• When delivering from shop to job site, quickly locate and gather all necessary material for each delivery, even if stored in different physical locations within shop; verify all items
• Match applicable purchase order with material and packing slip, and process paperwork for updating of PO tracking system in Company computer system; complete timesheets daily to ensure accurate log of every pickup/delivery
• Verify priority of tasks with Assistant Dispatch should it not be possible to complete all tasks within timeframe originally specified; Assistant Dispatch to reallocate resources and/or reassign tasks as necessary
• Notify Assistant Dispatch of any outstanding tasks that remain incomplete so that these tasks can be incorporated into planning
• Ensure all material is securely stowed in vehicle during transport to eliminate shifting of load or any potential damage
• Remove all material from delivery vehicle on daily basis, and nothing left in vehicle overnight (including building keys, material for return, picked up material) without prior approval from Dispatch
• Assist with processing of unused materials for return to suppliers, including identifying material available for potential return, providing supporting documentation from original PO or technician, and returning to supplier once approved by Assistant Dispatch
